Fuck this guy. If it's all subjective, then who cares what kind of equipment someone has? You should be able to write a sound review based on what you think with a super low res mp3 you got the day Napster first started. I hope he gets split by a hair and pisses all over his khaki shorts today at Lee Ann's 4th of July picnic.

If it's all subjective, then no one should need a gear profile. Must be another goos vicodin high.

"Or a piece of gear, if I don't like the way it sounds I just don't review it. Someone else might LOVE the way it sounds. Something like that cannot be measured, it's just an emotional feeling. Can't review that."
Doesn't this go against everything supposed audiophiles stand for and believe in? The search for "Good Sound" requires constantly buying gear, comparing/contrasting and making bloviated claims about one piece of gear's supposed superiority over another piece of similar looking gear (the deciding factor always being how much money was spent on something). Not to mention hoarding/collecting multiple editions of the same music to compare/contrast and make grand claims about which is edition is definitively better than another.

Astounding.
Astounding that he has the gall to post that. Astounding that most of the members will accept this at face value.
I suppose this means the Breath of Life is... subjective???

Not sure if that implies agreement, though (?). Follow-up: was skimming Twitter just now and noticed this. Figured it puts the debate to an end. Apologies if it’s been previously posted… [IMG] Note: if reposting from Twitter is somehow verboten here, please let me know offline or report the post. Someone on there should tell Hoffman to fill out his gear profile.

I would listen to the 'All Things Must Pass' remix to see if I agree with them, but that would mean having to listen to 'All Things Must Pass.'

I've loved the Whitlock saga. The SHF is full of old Harrison stans eager to blow big money on junk. So, between their extreme fandom of Harrison, and their desperate need to defend themselves against even the thought that the new release was not worth $999, they ripped Whitlock to shreds.
But those Harrison stans are also Hoffman stans! So, what to do!?!?! The minute it came out that good 'ol Steve also thought the remix was junk and backed Whitlock, a lot of those guys either got really quiet or their heads exploded. Cognitive dissonance is a right bitch.
