Well, the "I Me Mine" 'mystery' is solved. As with the "Goodbye" demo acetate, this track has evidently been sourced from a bootleg (Get Back Version 2, as found on Purple Chick's Let It Be Deluxe, disc 4 track 22).Channels have been swapped but it is precisely the same original transfer. The question is - what have they done to it? It seens like a misguided and failed attempt at using an harmonic / aural exciter plugin, which ended up adding the noise between 8 and 16 kHz...

I mean, "Goodbye" was sort of excusable, since they took a widely available version that did not happen to be the best circulating version. But in this instance, they seem to have actively degraded the sound quality of their bootleg source above 8kHz. Seems like their sound engineer is nearly deaf AND they have no quality control for the outtakes, because anyone with better hearing should have noticed the intruding noise.BillyBudapest'sPajamas said:
I’m listening to the bootleg “Get Back - Glyn Johns Second Mix” right now and I Me Mine has none of that intrusive noise. It’s obvious that this song and the 4 track EP was a complete afterthought. I’m shocked by the lack of quality control here. Apple doesn’t give a s***!
I’ll be sticking with my none paid for bootleg.

It is most definitely taken from the same analog to digital transfer that appeared on bootleg, which is evident from the conspicuous wow and flutter curve. There is not a shred of doubt about that. They've just slightly changed its speed afterwards, that's all. And the additional frequency content was added digitally by someone with very limited skills in audio restoration.hlennarz said:
You're right. Channels swapped and sped up by 0.890%. Now perfectly matches the Purple Chick track throughout. It never goes out of sync indicating it's the exact same transfer."Done, now nobody will notice" - the folks at Apple.

People got on my case when I used the following phrase to describe Paul Hicks’ mixing work on the ATMP 50th anniversary edition. But can I say it now?
Here goes...
*Rookie mistake*

The folks at apple used the Purple Chick Bootleg as a sourceDefinitely confirmed.
Has the exact stray frequency interference line at the start around 15khz.

I think they used not purple chick directly but rather the same source that purple chick used, since the is slight digital Nr on purple chick. I don't have the raw source "get back version 2" bootleg to compare to. Regardless, same digital transfer, detoriated by apple.jeighson1 said:
It’s something one would expect from a rookie. The mistake is rookie-like. I didn't say “a rookie’s mistake”. The point is that much much better is expected from a professional. Understand now?
