The addition of all the hip hop songs seems forced. It's a crap list. Rolling Stone is crap.
Just my opinion.

Yes walks all over hip hop. It's actually hilarious to think otherwise.

I have not heard 203 of these songs. I am in my mid sixties. My Father was a radio station program director for more than 30 years. I listen to music every day of my life. That is some list.RudolphS said:
Well Mr. Connoisseur if you have such good taste, post your favorite 10 albums from the last 20 years in this thread, so we all can marvel at your exquisite taste.Wild Horse said:
I hate lists. But, I'll throw out some off the top of my head.
Since you're an expert on music, I'll just type the titles only on most
Exile On Main St.
Astral Weeks
Pet Sounds
Kind of Blue
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Call Me (Al Green)
Tusk
Close To the Edge
A Love Supreme
Ziggy Stardust

No, I meant 10 albums released in the last 20 years. Your list is from a time when half of the current world population was not even born yet.Wild Horse said:
Why would I post albums I don't like?Look, dude, IMO all the best music was made last century.
I'm sorry the young people of today missed the party.

It’s like calling yourself a real film lover but not liking anything after The Godfather.Wild Horse said:
The Godfather is my second favourite movie. My favourite was released before The Godfather. That being said, I absolutely loved Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, released a few years ago.
Film is a much different medium than music. It pulls from the past much more.

No, I know you listen to music from last century. Why wouldn't you guys? That's when all the great music was made (my opinion). My daughter grew up loving music from last century. She listens to some stuff this century, but all her favourite artists are from last century. She used to be a big Depeche Mode fan. She didn't even exist when all their most popular albums were released.
I'll try an analogy. I like classic cars. Cars that were made up until about 1973, when emission controls and other factors turned cars into ugly looking boxes for a while, which morphed into these little rounded off similar-looking things we have today.
Why would I drive a 2021 Honda Accord if I could drive a mint '65 Corvette?

Great post.I think some of us older listeners get dismissed out of hand with our complaints about new music, but I think you nailed it.
I particularly liked your use of the word "joyless" to describe much of indie rock.
I would only add that some people don't realize that many of us grew up listening to a wide diversity of music and enjoying it.
Too often we get pigeon-holed as being "rockists", nostalgic for the music of our youth, too stubborn to embrace the "new."
Which is very unfair.

I don't believe this list was created from the voters as Rolling Stone claims. People voted but I think their writers and Editors got together and created it. MechanicalAnimal6 said:
that list is a joke and so is Rolling Stone magazine...they are just trying to be "woke"...no way are most of those songssome of the best ever created.
just seeing the first 50 was enough for me to just make me laugh and shake my head....what a joke

I know I shouldn’t read these lists but I did. My biggest take away is that Get Your Freak On is better than every Dylan song bar one. Yup.LitHum05 said:
