Fail. While Hooofman and Port may be of questionable character, Ricker was universally respected as a professional in the audio field. I don't get the Dr. Bunsen Honeydew thing, sorry.

What the fuck is he saying? The HD transfers for Star Trek look fine, and you can even pick on Blu-ray the original SFX rather than the digital update that is now standard for streaming. As they didn't have unlimited budget for special effects in the sixties, there are just a few shots concerned.
It may have been designed to look good on a 1966 23" inch TV from a local broadcasting. The stations would get 3rd generation film copies, but the original negatives were handled with care and professionalism.
See, if Luke Joseph had ponied up the $70 on Amazon to offer his millionaire friend the full set with the three seasons, STeVE would have never posted this.

I highly doubt Skeeve actually saw any original Star Trek prints at Paramount. How he got from that lie to bragging on fucking Audio Note AGAIN is just ridiculous. Fuckin' lying ass dickhead!

It's classic Hoofman: he humble brags about how he's an insider and how he has the ears, all as a pretext to the point he really wants to make, that Audio Note is the company he's now shilling for and SHites should buy some AN equipment so they can be like StEve. It's an advertising-free forum, folks.

It's still fucking stupid. You don't take Star Trek as an example, given the fanbase. There are tons of people on the forum who can say that the HD transfers look great. Actually, most of the sixties and seventies shows that were transferred to HD look terrific, like The Prisoner, Mission Impossible or The Avengers.
The issue is mostly with eighties shows. They were still shot using standard 35mm cameras, but the end goal was no longer to provide film prints to stations, as a video transfer was enough. They didn't need any longer to have a sharp first generation given that they wouldn't use optical copy of some optical copy. And they saved on film stock by switching to three perfs per frame instead of four. That way, instead of having a 1.33:1 frame filling up the four perfs, they would use instead something very close to 16:9/1.78:1 but only use the middle of the image to get a 4/3 aspect ratio. Which is why the original series of Star Trek looks sharper in a few ways than The Next Generation, despite TNG being produced 20 years later. (And they didn't use the extra space on the left and the right side of the frame for the HD transfers, making them 16:9 and widescreen, given that during production they didn't protect the shots and there are instances where you can see wires or marks on the floor, the end of the actual set, etc.)

Aspiring audiophile assholes NEED to spend $100k on Audio Note (which Skeeve was given/is borrowing) to hear music. Fucking hell.
