I just saw something on a Beatles Facebook group about the listening party being discussed. They said a Dolby 5.1 mix was being played but won’t be made available commercially. So I guess that confirms no BluRay? I hope this is not the case. I know these FB groups aren’t always reliable. Can any of our insiders give any update on this?tug_of_war said:
If a 5.1 mix was really played (and I believe so, because of Giles Martin's recent post on Tweeter) then I'm sure it will be released commercially. Unless there's something wrong with it and they had to cancel it at the last minute, which I doubt.crossroads69 said:
Dolby Atmos was played but won’t be made commercially available? That’s very strange! If it’s good enough to showcase at the first industry listening party, then why not release it? (ideally Blu-ray, alternatively streaming). It seems odd that they would go out of their way to create and play a version that they don’t plan to release.dormouse said:
Very odd about this listening party. Why are they paying Giles for an Atmos mix to play to a few people and then not include it to upset those who are actually BUYING the set. And Giles will then have to field all of the questions about his tweet about it being 'immersive'. If he then does some sort of joke about the description being because the album contains Yellow Submarine he does realise he will have his head chewed off by those waiting patiently to purchase the product. A major publicity foul-up of immense proportions I would suggest.Perhaps we will get a 5.1 surround, rather than an Atmos, but why would you then play a mix that you do not intend to release at a listening party. Surely that is a ridiculous and frankly disastrous mistake at a publicity event for a new release.

Apologies if this is already posted - the thread is too fast moving - but Beatlefan are reporting Universal held a listening party of the Atmos mix of Revolver, but the Atmos mix won’t be available commercially. Seems odd.MHP said:
A Dolby Atmos mix was not included on Sgt. Pepper either. It’s primarily created for streaming platforms. The article does not mention that a 5.1 lossless sorround mix will not be included.Yawndave said:
I don't get the "won’t be made available commercially" statement. Why go to all the time and expense of creating a 5.1/Atmos mix, make the effort to throw a listening party, and then tell people it wasn't going to be released? Doesn't make sense to me.numer9 said:

If it’s for streaming, then it would be commercially available, wouldn’t it?Geordiepete said:
Yes, but isn't this about something said by someone whose friend reported something said by someone else who attended a listening party? It's not about a direct quote.numer9 said:
To me, commercially unavailable means it's not included in the SDEzobalob said:
You could, if you were a subscriber, listen to it but you wouldn't be able to buy a copy for yourself...I'm pretty sure that's what was implied.Sis+erRay said:
They're reporting that the mix "will not be made commercially available in the box set"Atmos mixes on Blu-ray are currently basically dead. The major labels seem to have closed some kind of exclusitivity deals.

Several box sets already came without a surround mix on disc although it was made available via streaming.I think the first one was Tom Petty - Wildflowers which was exclusive to Amazon at the time and released before Apple Music launched Spatial Audio.
Some others that come to mind:
The Rolling Stones - Tattoo You
Liam Gallagher - C'Mon You Know
The Rolling Stones - El Mocambo 1977
Eric Clapton - Nothing But The Blues (The film is included in Atmos on Blu-ray but it partly features interviews while music is being played)
Neil Young - Noise & Flowers (Although the box set contains a Blu-ray)
Paul McCartney - McCartney I II III
George Michael - Older
EDIT: And the Atmos mix of 'The Very Best of INXS' was supposed to be released on Blu-ray via superdeluxeedition.com but cancelled by the label.

Once they start putting serving platforms who just work on numbers and money ahead of fans they have lost. It took me 6 months to see Get Back, and it looks like a surround version of Revolver will require me getting new hardware and subscribing to another service I have no intention of using for anything else. Well, you know what, no. I get off the bus. It is a shame Peter Jackson is not in charge. He would know what to do. Thanks to whoever posted the link to the mammoth interview with him. Probably the best Beatles related item I have seen in a long time. He's on our side 100%. And what a nice man. So generous with his time, honest and clearly a genuine fan. Not an accountant!joeislive said:
I get what you mean (and if it’s not included it may as well be “commercially unavailable” as far as I’m concerned) but if it is available via streaming platforms that require a subscription fee of any kind then it is still commercially available. Sorry for getting too literal, as we kill time waiting for an official announcement…numer9 said:
Not really since you can't buy it......streaming ain't buying.joeislive said:
If your paying for a subscription service, even if you can’t hold it in your hands, you are still buying something, hence it being commercially available.EdwinM said:

Your discussion is pointless. As i posted on page 272, Beatlefan specifically reported that the Atmos mix "will not be made commercially available in the box set" The user who asked the question here just didn't quote their full sentence.
