Remember when Stereo Central used to be clever? And fun? Clever and funny? I've been reading for a couple of days now and I am laughing out loud, so it used to better? You missed The Dude. He was the funniest of us, and it's been downhill since he left.

I've been on stereocentral since 2010/2011, and read also everything that was archived back then.
The level of humor has remained pretty much the same in MY OPINION! I've gotten the same amount of smiles and chuckles now as then.
The Dude, Frank Booth, antiram* - funny folks but not crucial or notably hilarious (apologies if you were good friends with them, I'm just going by superficial observation of their poats).
This place lives and dies by the quality of the Shites. Or the lack thereof.
I'm sure the Snakepit thing though was really funny!
*I picked these 3 as I've seen others here mourn their not posting anymore. Nothing against them personally.

Antiram’s story about the corpse of George Harrison is what made me sign up here.

I think I found SC maybe 3 hosts ago, around 2015. It's less pretentious now, with the more aggro gatekeepers from that time mostly quiet (or likely gone). Still gets a little edgelord-ish for my tastes on Dec. 8

Dunno about December 8 amplifying edgelordiness but I admit I got a chuckle of that poat with the NNOOOOOOOOO. That whole thing is insane to me.
But I'm also a terrible person.

SHites are always ripe for mocking, but there seems to be at least some undercurrent of glee over the assassination of an entertainer because Beatards are annoying or because Lennon had well-documented flaws or something. I'm not a gort though, so carry on.

SHites are always ripe for mocking, but there seems to be at least some undercurrent of glee over the assassination of an entertainer because Beatards are annoying or because Lennon had well-documented flaws or something. I'm not a gort though, so carry on. Speaking for myself, I feel no glee in Lennon’s death. A woman lost her husband, and her son lost his father. I was also in my initial throes of Beatlemania at the time, and John’s murder depressed me a great deal. However… The SHites actually seem to enjoy wallowing in pathos, self-pity, and do whatever they can to show that Lennon’s death affected them MUCH more than it could have possibly affected you. It’s that obnoxious personality trait that I take pleasure in lampooning. Now, let’s have JamieC’s all-time classic poat prove my point: It was the night of my wife's 22nd birthday. Her birthday has remained a bittersweet occasion ever since. She used to complain when I would say she was born on the day after Pearl Harbor. Wifey and I were in bed(I had to work on Tuesday morning), when the phone rang at about 11 pm. My wife heard me scream NOOOOOOOO and dropped the phone. I never made it to work the next day. Baby held me as I cried through the night. I wanted to wrap my arms around Yoko so bad that night and hold her. I think she knew that too. 33 years. So, 33 years after Lennon’s death (42 years now), he cannot separate the death of a musician from his wife’s birthday? Honestly? Her birthday is still a “bittersweet occasion”? (For fuck sakes…) And he “cried through the night”? Well, all I could muster back then was a disbelieving shock. I guess JamieC is much more of a fan than I could ever be because he broke down and wept for hours. What about that “NOOOOOOOO”. I have always thought Shatner’s hilarious “Khaaannnn!” in Star Trek II was the apex of overacting, but JamieC’s histrionics proved that The Shat is a lightweight in comparison. Now, we get to the bit about wanting to wrap his arms around Yoko and hold her. (🤢. Just, 🤢…) The SHites trying to top each other smacks of the old “Queen For a Day” game show – where the most pathetic sob story wins the contest.

My edgelord comment was about corpse photos and the like; not the always mockable stunted development of JaimeC and other Beatards

My edgelord comment was about corpse photos and the like; not the always mockable stunted development of JaimeC and other Beatards I think it stems from a natural desire to counteract the maudlin deification of Sir John Winston Ono Lennon O'Boogie The First.
I listened to all my Lennon stuff a few months ago and couldn't help but feel a bit bummed at the end, realizing that there would never be another Lennon album (unless the AI gets that good.) Honestly what caught me more was getting to the end of my Harrison run, especially since I capped it off with the Concert For George.

Infantile Beatards ... always funny. Morgue photos of murder victims (or even non-serious Chapman cheering) ... seems a bit more junior high. MY OPINION
