Lester Bangs nailed it something like four decades ago.

That Ozzie and Harriet thread is just a celebration of white banality.

There’s a hokey thread about the best day of your life which has thrown up many variations of tearful births of offspring and breathless first kisses, along with a couple of absolute horror show responses (Strat-Mangler: “ Just staying in bed until past noon, talking, sleeping in each other's arms, partaking in carnal pleasures (lol)”, thnkgreen: “The day I was saved” etc), but this beauty from chief idiot yesstiles really stands out:
“I have three kids and adore them all, but none of the days they were born would come close to my best day. I mean I was there for the whole birth, cut the umbilical cords and held them for hours, but much better stuff came later with them all.
Can one or more members here explain why the day of a child's birth would be the most enjoyable day of your life? Thanks ”

How about this worthless response in the Are You Playing Any Video Games? thread?
As a teen, my best friend and I spent many a Friday night (and many quarters) at our hometown's various video arcades: Aladdin's Castle, The Gold Mine, or the Electric Circus. These days we no longer live in the same city and not long ago we spoke by phone for the first time in years and he told me about playing Xbox games at home with his kids. When I mentioned that I haven't played any video games since our teenage arcade days, he seemed shocked (maybe stunned is a better description of his reaction). I explained that I've spent a fair amount of money over the years on home video/audio equipment but for some reason I've never felt the need to own a PlayStation/Xbox, —and from his reaction it was if I said I hated puppies and kittens.
To be clear, If I suddenly won a game system in a raffle I would keep and use it but acquiring one just hasn't been a priority for me.
Also—for the record—I do like both puppies and kittens.

There was no Net Flix. I'll never own an I-Tune. I still use Windows XP. I don't have an I-Phone. I do not Tick Tock. I love my hotwheels. C3Po and Chewbacka looked so clear. Darth Vadar.
