How good would a solo Lennon album with his Double Fantasy and Milk and Honey songs on it have been? Could have been epic. Double Fantasy is blighted by every second track being unlistenable garbage.

The DF/MAH combined album, would have been a KILLER album for John to come back with.Wildest cat from montana said:

Not Yoko bashing but I never play her songs. John's songs on Double Fantasy are great and the ones on Milk and Honey, especially had they been finished by John, are pretty good.kollektionist said:
I prefer listening to disc 4 of the Lennon box that has just the Lennon songs of Double Fantasy and Milk & Honey.threeheadedmonkey said:
I made a playlist of all the John songs from Double Fantasy and Milk and Honey. It's glorious.canonlon said:
IMO if you base Double Fantasy on the John songs then it's an amazing album - I'm not a Yoko hater but her songs are just not very good really - I'd love a reissue Single Fantasy.Detroit Rock Citizen said:
I've never bought the "dialog" that was supposed to be happening between John's songs and Yoko's. Put John's songs from Double Fantasy with those from Milk and Honey and do the same for Yoko's and you have two excellent albums instead of two somewhat discordant ones. I'd say it would be John's third bestChief said:
I think the entire set of songs Lennon had in 1980 was his strongest set of songs since the White Album, even if it doesn’t as many peaks as POB and Imagine. I think that all of the Lennon songs on both Double Fantasy and Milk And Honey give better balance to where he was artistically at the time.

Originally it was to be a Lennon album only with the other tracks that were on Milk and Honey, but FWIU Ono insisted that it be the way it came out.
I burned a CD with the Lennon music from both of those albums, it would have been a monster come back album.

All I can say is thank God for the Bermuda CD from the Lennon Collection box that put all John's songs from 1980 on one CD without the Yoko tracks.Country Rocker said:
As many other people here have done, I combined John's 'Double Fantasy' songs with his 'Milk & Honey' songs to create the perfect 1980 John Lennon album. Even did my own cover for it, and ripped a CD. Love that album!!DolphinsIntheJacuzzi said:
I'm not a fan of Yoko or her contributions here. But if you take the John songs from this album and combine them with the John songs from Milk & Honey, you're left with one final, pretty great John album.maclen said:
I’m going to guess myself and thousands and thousands of others did just that.EmceeEscher said:
What could have been!1. (Just Like) Starting Over
2. Nobody Told Me
3. Woman
4. I'm Losing You
5. Clean Up Time
6. Beautiful Boy
7. Watching the Wheels
8. I'm Stepping Out
9. I Don't Wanna Face It
10. Every Man Has a Woman Who Loves Him
11. Dear Yoko
12. Real Love
Maybe Grow Old with Me, Forgive Me, and Borrowed Time as b-sides somewhere, or just saved for the follow up album.
Great batch of songs Yoko could have done her own full album at the time too, with her DF songs, Walking on Thin Ice and a couple more...just like they did Imagine and Fly back to back.
