Brian Kelly knows his stuff. From a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2023 thread.

That “facts” thread is a fucking disaster. It’s getting into “spider eggs in Bubble Yum” territory!

I’m watching the Abbey Road Studios documentary that everyone is crying and whining about. It’s not anything earth shattering but it’s entertaining. Finslaw was crying about Pretty Things and engineers not being mentioned. For fuck sucks, it’s not a Ken Burns 10 part series.

WTF was this stupid thread? Looks like it was zapped?
Chicago:(Relatively) Unknown and Undiscussed Superband
Unknown? Superband?
Never mind, merged with another stupid Chicago thread.

Unknown? Superband? Never mind, merged with another stupid Chicago thread. Ian Christopher That’s better than my theory that Chicago lost the youth market when Peter Cetera wore a Bauhaus shirt in one of their videos and turned potential fans goth.

"Last Nite" was a new one to me. I never consciously heard it on the radio, and though I own its parent album and three other Strokes 45s in their American versions, I don't own this one, either the XL or RCA version. Why it was never offered to me, I don't really know. By this time, I think I was getting most of my current 45s from the late Skip Groff at Yesterday and Today Records in Rockville, Md., so I'm not sure how I missed it; I'm certain he would have stocked it.
I'm not sure I ever played my LP. In the early 2000s I was buying almost anything remotely mainstream on vinyl, often 10-20 at a time, and I simply couldn't listen to everything.
At first, as I listened, I didn't really hear the "American Girl" similarity. I heard other influences, like "Lust for Life" by Iggy Pop and a bit of "Town Called Malice" by the Jam. If anything, the indie original sounds less like Petty. But yeah, it's there. And like Petty himself, I really don't care.
I'm still trying to decide about "Last Nite," which ironically has the same title, albeit spelled differently, as one of Petty's primary contributions to the Traveling Wilburys' Volume 1 ("Last Night"). The first time I heard it, I didn't like it, but it's growing on me. I'm not got to add it to A Few of My Favorite Things as of now, but I reserve the right to change my mind.

The Peter Gabriel thread is a shit show. They’re all pissed off at this “full moon” release schedule and it’s constant speculation about whether the album is finished or not. No satisfying these pricks.

So we've gone from those 45rpm reissues to a new 0.00002354rpm format?
