As recently as interviews promoting McCartney III, he's said he wouldn't release a song unless he absolutely believed in it. His having the class to say "they can't all be crackers" at times is a far cry from what you're saying.Wildest cat from montana said:
Paul says a lot of things.Sure I read something around the time of the release of ' Chais and Creation...' where he said he realized some of his albums weren't up to par and he was determined to put out a strong one.

It is true he gave very high praise to For No One, Here There and Everywhere, and Got To Get You Into My Life. But he also felt very proud of Tomorrow Never Knows, I'm Only Sleeping, and She Said She Said. I don't think there's any reason to conclude that he felt McCartney had surpassed him on the album. And as I said, I do not recall him ever saying anything along those lines.Wildest cat from montana said:
McCartney said Lennon said he preferred McCartney's songs over his own but McCartney says a lot of things.speedracer said:
That's kind of harsh. Most likely just wasn't his cup of tea. The only Beatle to ever get into music for music's sake, free expression or "jamming" was George. The others were strictly pop formula craftsmen, so I can see how loose improvisational groups like Traffic would not appeal to them, probably seemed lazy. Still, to just write off an entire body of work as "twaddle" strikes me as mean spirited and ignorant. I will bet he didn't even really listen much, just gave it the thumbs down after hearing a few minutes of it somewhere.Wildest cat from montana said:

If I remember correctly, there is a John Lennon interview in which he said that this was his favorite album of the group. I think he said it was because it was what they were most like on stage.Wildest cat from montana said:
While I believe John said this I always keep in mind that John said a lot of things.Etienne Hanratty said:
Tomorrow Is A Long Time, Elvis Presley. Not technically non-traditional but not remotely Dylanesque either.Wildest cat from montana said:
Dylan said in some late 60s interview this was his favourite cover of one of his songs. But then in his book he says 'Positively 4th Street' by Johnny Rivers is his favourite.

No, McCartney has said that it is supposed to be "For You", but he didn't want it confused with the Springsteen song of the same name. He took Fuh from the first syllable of Fuh-geddaboudit.Wildest cat from montana said:
McCartney says a lot of things. He didn't want it confused with the Springsteen song? Nonsense. Not one person in a thousand even knows that Springsteen song.
