You don't have to be omniscient to know that holding a gun--let alone pointing it at someone--is a potentially fatal disaster. Nor do you have to be a gun expert. You just need to have a conscience and you need to be able to say to yourself, "this is a potential disaster". Even without that, you need to feel uncomfortable pointing the gun directly at someone. Point it in a direction no one is standing. Don't engage the trigger; keep your trigger finger on the side of the weapon. You don't need to be a gun expert to know that. Frankly, you have to be a maniac to feel ok about pointing a gun at someone. I get that actors are acting like maniacs in some cases, but they are supposed to abide by the same laws as everyone else. Just because you're on a movie set doesn't mean the same laws that apply to everyone else don't apply to you. But then again you have to be a maniac to leave the kind of voicemail Baldwin left for his daughter. Yeah, yeah, I know there's always an excuse with guys like Baldwin. He had a really tough divorce and mean ex. I'll go on record saying I had a tougher divorce, tougher custody battle and tougher road than what Baldwin went through. Never in a million years would leave a VM like that.

I don't think under these circumstances Alec Baldwin is guilty of doing anything except being a cheap-*** producer. I think 80% of the blame goes to the armorer, and 20% goes to the Assistant Director (who was already granted immunity and given a small sentence). The armorer has already admitted that she immediately emptied all the ammunition from the guns on set, which (to me) is tampering with evidence. I'm sure there's a charge they could bring to her involving criminal negligence that results in death, and she'd be liable to that. Courts have given 10-year jail sentences to drunk drivers who kill others; I'd have no problem with them citing her and giving her 10 years in jail for accidentally loading live rounds into a gun on a movie set. Well he was certainly holding the gun that "shot" (even if you believe him that he didn't engage the trigger) and killed someone in cold blood. We've sort of beat that dead horse enough in this thread, but one thing we haven't talked about is the optics and the precedent it would set to not even go to trial. We already have a justice system perceived as two-tier in favor of the wealthy and glitterati. Every phone is now a potential movie camera and if Baldwin walks on this without even a trial, I can see a bad precedent and "the Baldwin defense" being used in lots of manslaughter cases where people claim the gun or ammo was not their responsibility. Biden's position is that he has no criminal responsibility. How does that look in terms of justice and precedent? It’s one thing when Donny does it, but you??Haha. Whoops!! :tiphat: Baldwin...Biden...you know what I meant.
