I was a big hard rock fan in the early 70's but Sly was one of the few Motown artists I loved. I think it was his Woodstock performance that hooked me. He wasn't a Motown artist.

You'd think a bunch of aging boomers, who prattle on endlessly about Led Zeppelin, would have at least a cursory knowledge of soul music from the same era. Many do but a lot of these guys don't have any idea what they're talking about.
