A few months ago I was stopped at a red light by a school. I looked over at a group of about eight or so of the students. Every one of them was staring at their phones. No talking among them, no eye contact, nothing. That's very depressing. The modern world depresses the hell out of me.

Nice. Not a smart phone in sight. Why can't they be like we were Perfect in every way? What's the matter with kids today?

Things are happening now that wouldn't have flown at all 20 years ago, and consumers always excuse it by parroting the reasons that they are given for it being necessary. No better example than the often-repeated statements that questionable new releases (not only by The Beatles) are being made to bring older bands into the consciousness of the younger iPod generation. There's nothing wrong with that at face value, but the problem is that it's at the expense of the people that these releases are supposed to be geared towards in the first place. And it seems like most people have no problem with that explanation, even though it's disingenuous. It's also telling how people associated with Beatles releases become de-facto "experts" that other bands need to hire, even though they are only de-facto experts according to Apple. I'm not saying they aren't good at what they do, but there are plenty of other people who can do it and some even do it better. But references to them are plentiful in discussions about other bands. Hype has a far reach these days. This very forum was also partially founded on the idea of educating others about how destructive audio trends like noise reduction and heavy-handed remastering are being sold to the public. But it doesn't really apply anymore, does it? History repeats itself.

The only reason these overweight boomers don't drink antifreeze and check out of such a "depressing" world is the reality that their famblies will sell their precious minty rekkids and CeeDees for pennies on the dollar to the nearest dork who will pay cash and haul them away (I've been the 'nearest dork who paid cash and hauled them away' before).
That reality causes a weird cognitive dissonance where these records are their own fucking version of Rosebud and actually becomes their own personal raisin d'etre, their true purpose...
It's really kind of sad. Life wasted...

Is SilverBottomSavior a Dilly tribute poater? SilverBottomSavior > WonkyWilly. He's also had other names I believe but can't think of them at the moment. He has a very know-it-all attitude and can get very aggressive & angry. He's been booted out of there a few times and manages to crawl back using different sign on names.

If the delay is caused by the launch of Taylor, that's an absolute shame on Apple's part. The news of a new song by the Beatles is above any marketing move by the star of the moment. You may think so, but most of the world doesn't.
