I really don’t want to see much more of DACs to be honest.
Yes they fascinate me , but now they are almost a turn off.
why?
1) People used to make DACs based solely on how they sounded. Very little measurements.
2) some guy called Amir came around and made a certain suite of measurements especially SINAD , which basically fueled this craze for overseas DACs that met that certain suite of measurements.
3) now people don’t even listen with their ears , it’s just “ my DAC measures better than your DAC” sort of juvenile thing.
4) some measurements in DACs can tell a thing or two. Especially if something is seriously wrong. But I don’t think much more than that
I think there still is a ton to be learned in DACs and what makes them all sound different. IMHO it is NOT that oversimplified suite of measurements.
It’s just made the whole DAC market sort of the “ PlayStation” of audio.
Completely ruined it.
Destroyed it
Every 4 months a new overseas DAC. Flooding the market
It’s beyond boring now.
