Brodnation : For me i am torn between the “best version” of She Loves You.
I love what they did eq wise on the 2015 1 release. But the edits are terrible. Then there is the version of the Beatles red album 1963-1966 where the edits are pretty great but the sound is flat and muffled to me. I have personally re eq’d both the 1 2015 and the red album version but I am not a qualified audio engineer and my re equing was basically, bring down the mids, boost around 8k and then boosting 300-500 range and add some subtle stereo reverb. It sounds ok but not great. Has anyone tried to eq SLY, I know that it will never sound great because all that exists are 2nd fen dubs and the master was recorded well anyway but I feel like someone else has probably had any luck. I would love to see what anyone has said or any eq ing people have done, and maybe hear what Steve has to say.
Thanks in advance
Do people really sit and listen to a supremely simple song like SLY (see, even a dumb cunt like me can play the Beatard game), 2 minutes of boy meets girl lyrics with all the complexities of a four piece rockin' teenage combo recording to two-track in 1963 and think, 'Hmmmmm, those mids are a little hot there'?

The best version was the nasty Swan 45 I listened to on my crappy Philco rekkid player as a kid. It sounded awesome to me at the time and it changed my fookin' life.

It was recorded in 1963. It's supposed to sound simple FFS.
