Except the polling shows he's leading with non-white voters overall and is making up ground with the African American vote now that Biden has fallen apart. Mayor Pete has no support from minorities. Trump and the Republicans have been calling Democrats socialists forever. The term just isn't as loaded as it used to be. It will be a fight to be sure.

The frontrunner happily calls himself a socialist, and runs on that platform. This is an important difference and matters a lot to a large swath of voters.

I am sure that distinction is impossible to communicate effectively, of course.

With Biden likely being the Democrat nominee, we're going to be declaring our love for President Trump for another four years.

The guy that can't beat Joe Biden wouldn't beat Trump either, then.

The thing that sickens me is that the climate does not give a fuck who the president is. Trump is worse than Biden no doubt. But anyone unwilling to take drastic action on climate change is a monster and both parties congealing around candidates who don't give as fuck about younger generations fucking kills me.

The guy that can't beat Joe Biden wouldn't beat Trump either, then. If Warren drops out and the “progressive” vote is no longer split, Sanders will finish with more delegates than Biden, and the DNC will job him out.

Bloomberg was a far bigger drag on Biden than Warren was to Sanders. Warren is/was entirely inconsequential. Last night was a gut punch to the notion that Sanders has broad enough appeal to win the general election.

Maybe, but I still have confidence Biden will.flame out. I.E. we are doomed.

I voted for Bernie in 2016 (in the primary - I did not write him in for the general) and will almost certainly vote for him this time too in a couple weeks.
But I think his campaign is essentially over, barring some type of miracle.
I have been skeptical of his ability to win for a number of reasons none of which have to do with my personal thoughts/feelings but... essentially, I think a lot of my fellow lefties grossly overestimated the youth voter turnout. And underestimated how many Dems (forget about independents and on the fence never Trumpers etc) will. Not. Vote for someone who declares himself a democratic socialist.
No idea if Biden can win - he would not even be in my top 3 candidates but I agree with Bradman - if Bernie can't get more votes than Biden in the primary, that's not a strong defense for Bernie.
My main hope currently is that Biden makes a very wise choice for VP - has to be someone considerably younger imo.... keep hearing Klobuchar, Harris, Abrams names all of whom make sense to me.
Also, fwiw, if Bloomberg is true to his word and stays all in for supporting the Dem nom then I suspect his support for Biden will help Dems more than if (and that's a big if, i think) Bernie got the nom and Bloomberg supported Bernie.

Bloomberg would never support Bernie. He ran against Bernie and Warren more than Trump.

Abrams as a VP pick would be a good choice. Probably a better chance of getting the youth vote, the black vote, the female vote and the southern vote.
But, alas, we'll get Centrist/Milquetoast 2020. And four more years of president fuckmuppet.

I think Biden can defeat the orange soft blob. I like Bidens chances better than Sanders. The one thing that worries me is if Biden wins will Sanders backers vote for him. This coronavirus is scaring the shit out of Trump. It will be his down fall.
