To add some context, for a long time in the USA there were only two legitimately issued Buddy Holly CDs - the master tape one and “For The First Time Anywhere.” Then there was that little spot of bother, lawsuits started flying, and we know the rest.
MCA Europe, meanwhile, continued to release Buddy Holly CDs, quite often TV-advertised. They were able to do this thanks to Decca not letting shady individuals with a staff pass from raiding their London tape library. This actually made things a bit more difficult for the casual buyer, as the dodgy CDs with The Picks’ overdubs could be found on the same shelves as the legit discs.

Like a blind squirrel and a nut, Steve did good on that "Legend From the Original Master Tapes" release...did he let THAT go to his head?
How come he's pretty much fucked everything up since then?
