Be proud of yourself.

Then raising money...the GoFund Me is trying to get $100,000...as a 78 year old even his grandkids must be earning. Most of us here if we learned a father/granddad needed 100 k for vital healthcare would sort it with the rest of the family through credit cards, savings, sacrifices etc in about 20 minutes. No offence to anybody but 100 k is doable between 5-10 working adults.
If I played for a Beatle and was making records/touring the MOST STUPID THING I COULD DO IS Bite that hand that feeds, especially in the media. How f'ing LOW is that.
sorry, we all make our beds, for better or for worse.
but i wish the best for im.

He's probably said, 'raise £100k yourself, and I'll match it.'

In other words, he shouldn't expect any GoFundMe donations from McCartney.Andrew J said:
What a compassionate and good-natured (not to mention highly relevant) response to the subject of someone's life being seriously threatened.Be proud of yourself.

I think people are going to be honest here, as it sounds as if he is through the worst (the GoFundMe is for rehab and post-op care) but Denny Laine seems to be a divisive figure. Yes, he's playing still and people seem to like him etc, but he has done himself no favours in the likeability stakes in the past. Not a good man imo, and he seems to have spent money like it was going out of fashion...and now there's a GoFundMe?Kent Gray said:
My comment had nothing to do with Laine. It had to do with McCartney, and I suspect the response was from an offended McCartney fan.Bnk said:
The search function here seems to be back up ..search for the thread about the fall out with McCartney and a few other threads. Laine and his then wife sold an uncomplimentary story about Macca and Linda to the gutter press when they were hard up...after Wings success. Laine has always seemed to me a complaining, legend in his own mind narcissist who won't take responsibility for his actions. His main complaint seemed to be about being treated like an employee in Wings, and not an equal partner to Sir Paul. This may not the best place to delve into details, check some previous threads.

I hope he gets the help he needs and is on the road to a healthy recovery as it’s a sad and awful situation for Denny. However, it’s more than a little bit ironic that his wife is asking for 100K from fans considering how she has treated numerous fans of Denny’s including myself over the years. She has burned a lot of bridges with how she has treated people and the things that she has said. I happily donated and shared the link despite all she’s put me through mentally over the years.Bnk said:
Especially as he was doing gigs...conventions...he had to be covered by insurance for that surely? Then raising money...the GoFund Me is trying to get $100,000...as a 78 year old even his grandkids must be earning. I'm not gonna speculate on what billionaire Paul McCartney will or won't do. But I would hope he would both reach out and provide financial assistance.elgoodo said:
I’m a fan. But he was a prick to me. And he was the only guy I know of who charged for autographs at Beatlefest (not for charity). The Beave said:

I think Paul is a 'God helps those who help themselves' kinda guy. Meaning, he's not just gonna swoop in and save your issues (Paul that is, not God) you got to show you're doing something for yourself. He's probably said, 'raise £100k yourself, and I'll match it.'
