Did McCartney lie? Probably not but his truth stretching is legendary. Legendary because he constantly stretches the truth? Or legendary because people keep claiming he rewrites history? What are his most legendary truth stretching stories? Never called him a liar. It's you and people like you who are so quick to condemn those who take soft potshots at Saint Paul that suck the joy out of participating in these threads.

What is the obsession with “will people really be listening in a few years”?
There are albums that came out in January that I enjoyed and that I haven’t listened to for the last 7 months! Who cares? I don’t eat Pad Thai and sit and wonder “is anyone gonna be eating Pad Thai 20 years from now?”.
I listened to the Alan Parsons Project religiously when I was in my 20s. I’d rather shave my ass with a broken bottle than listen to that stuff today. Things change. Doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it in the moment.

It's their version of a "Gotcha!" when something is still happening and ongoing.
They're mad everyone likes something and they want to rain on their parade so they go to the "Will people still be listening to this in 50 years?"
Which if you read music YouTube comments sections you will find people listening to old garbage songs so rest assured someone will still be listening to something you don't like - in the future.
