If they are destroyed by the death of someone they don't know, what the fuck do they do when family dies? Ask DaveJ. Just arrived home from my brother’s funeral to find that Peter has passed.

If they are destroyed by the death of someone they don't know, what the fuck do they do when family dies? On John Lennon death day, one of them went on about how it still tore him up, and more of an impact than any of his family dying. That's pretty fucking sad.

Very odd that I learned of Peter's death at work, right after returning from lunch, the exact same as I learned of Davy's death. @davej sorry for your loss. Just curious, was your brother a Monkees fan?

There is something poetic about the "bass player" in The Monkees dying a few weeks after the man who really played on the records.

Genuine condolenses to the family and friends of Peter Tork.
His passing wasn’t such a surprise considering him dropping out sight last year – especially after the Monkees released their new Christmas album.
FWIW, many years ago, I wrote to each member of the group and Peter was the only one who replied.
So, for that little act of kindness, I thank him.

Has this been confirmed? I'll wait for an official coroner's report before giving my RIP.

Remember that I saw Peter Tork on a cereal box once so I felt a slight personal connection to him. Good times..

Can a Gort please edit the thread title. "Peter Tork-RIP"?!? It doesn't even state what band he was in.

FWIW, many years ago, I wrote to each member of the group and Peter was the only one who replied. So, for that little act of kindness, I thank him. There is a heavy-duty sarcasm and a ruthless unforgiving mercilessness toward the worst traits of SHiTeVille on this board, but I know there are real people here (by real I mean, you know, a certain degree of intelligence and sensitivity) who actually do enjoy music and the intelligent discussion of it. That can enjoy a lot of different acts, which may or may not include the Monkees. That have a sensible, objective attitude toward audio gear. A contempt for the audiophool bullshit.
It's encouraging, even heartwarming (wow) to see this poat.
I have almost written letters to a couple of my heroes over the years. When George Harrison (you might know him as STeVE's sidekick) was attacked in his own home in the middle of the night, back in whenever it was, I was shocked as fuck (ridicule me if you must but when Lennon was killed it had an impact on teenage me) and wrote him a letter. I never mailed it, thinking there was no way he'd ever actually read it.
So, yeah. Thanks Suze.
