If anyone is interested in Yoko the songwriter, I recommended "Walking on Thin Ice," which was released back in the Rykodisc days as a best-of the Onobox.
It's on rutracker, if you're not boycotting that site due to current events.

It reminds me of something else I really like, R. Crumb and Aline Kominsky-Crumb and their Dirty Laundry comix collaborations.

I genuinely thought I was being subjected to some class passive aggression earlier so this has not turned out how I expected! Thanks for the recommendation.

Her 'avant-garde' work was already very derivative and even passé when she did it, which is a point missed only by those who don't know much if anything about the subject and think they're being incredibly superior by claiming that it's important and wonderful. As for her later work, it doesn't help that they generalise about it. Do they mean the lyrics and the vocals? I find it hard to believe they're genuinely adoring of those, let alone regard them as preferable to The Beatles, but each to their own/ono. If they mean the music, per se, then who originated and/or contributed what, among several contributors, is a matter for debate, as is apportioning praise. The 'Yoko bashing' phrase is knowingly manipulative, when it's not just plain lazy, because it depicts a boneheadedly simplistic division between those who have anything critical to say about her work and those who don't. It's as useful as describing anyone with anything positive to say about certain examples of her work as a 'Yoko canoniser'.

Sometime In New York City (Ultimate Set) confirmed for 2022I think this album will benefit greatly from the bass-heaviness Sean seems to like in the remixes. And Yoko's vox being mixed down on Attica State and Sunday Bloody Sunday. :shh: or better yet, have them removed completely !

Is John Lennon's "Double Fantasy" underrated? They could have also put all John's songs on Side A and all Yoko's on Side B. I wonder if that was ever discussed (by them or the label). Everybody wanted it that way: John, Geffen, the record execs, the guys at the plant, Paul and Linda, Auntie Gin and Phil and Don but Yoko didn't so that was that. Oh wow. I didn't know that.

If John had wanted their songs to be on separate sides, it would have happened. So obviously he did not. Would it though? In one of the last interviews before the album was released John is asked what the title of the album is going to be. He says he's not sure but Yoko chimes in and says it's going to be 'Double Fantasy'. He didn't even have a solid say in the album title! So what's your source for the claim that Lennon wanted their songs on separate sides and was overruled by Yoko? Or are you just making the assumption based on an overriding belief that she was an evil puppetmaster and he was a brainwashed simpleton? Never said this. Just relating an anecdote about the album title. As for the " brainwashed simpleton" tag..well, he was never a simpleton. Yeah you did: "Everybody wanted it that way: John, Geffen, the record execs, the guys at the plant, Paul and Linda, Auntie Gin and Phil and Don but Yoko didn't so that was that."So what's your source for that claim? Gee, I don't have one. None for Auntie Gin either....
