91st Academy Awards (2019)
quite predictable this year.
once again emily blunt gets the shaft. seriously, melissa mccarthy, come on.
That McCarthy is not your typical McCarthy performance.
irrelevant, i've heard the same things about jim carrey, and will ferrell and ben stiller.......still terrible actors and just because they step out of their persona for once they get rewarded.
blunt got literally screwed not being nominated for 'sicario' and now for the 'mary poppins' thing too.
None of those actors ever got nominated for their non-dramatic performances.
Have you see the McCarthy movie? I'm guessing no...
you guess correctly.
Seems like it'd make more sense to criticize someone's performance when you've seen the performance...
in most cases i would agree with you totally, however, considering the atrociousness of her previous films (all of them, yes, every single one) i cannot envision her having any kind of acting chops whatsoever.
so, i see this as the academy trying to be "cool" by nominating a comedienne over others far more deserving.
I haven’t seen the Melissa McCarthy movie, but just from her TV show and other stuff I’ve seen her in, I don’t doubt for a second she has the requisite acting chops.
quite possibly one of the worst actresses ever, especially among those who get starring roles. farting, burping, pooping, screaming, swearing, and being as obnoxious as possible does not make one a good actor. (carrey, ferrell, stiller)
So with that logic there are so many actors directors who’ve made mediocre or terrible films prior to their nomination and or win for a good one..
Ever see all the mediocre films Robin Williams made before winning for Good Will Hunting. There are countless other examples
the key to your post is the word 'actors".
and i consider robin williams to be an actor. he paid his dues and worked very hard at honing his craft. he is not a good example.
