I can’t remember if this has been brought up (and I’m too lazy to use the search function MyKKKe) but they are getting their knickers in a twist over what is or is not “yacht rock”. The fact the whole genre exists is clearly a bit of fun and no one outside of SHTV is taking it seriously but over there they need it labelled, bottled and preserved. The whole yacht rock thing, to my understanding, is a bit of fun but of course it’s serious business for the SHites. They only deal in definitives and need to tell everyone exactly which specific songs do AND DO NOT (!!) fit in the genre. Talk about sucking the fun out of every last thing. Now up to 79 pages of important academic debate; forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/yacht-rock-revisted-what-yacht-rock-isand-isnt.647689/page-79#post-21770176But there's an entire podcast from the originators and the premise IS Yacht or Nyacht. That's the tie in with the thread. Nothing weird there IMO.

I get that it’s following on from the podcast but I think even those guys, who clearly love this music, have a tongue-in-cheek attitude about it. However, some of the SHites active in that thread have no humour or knowing wink about their appreciation of the music and instead seem driven to nail down what is yacht and then shout down anything that doesn’t fit by “the rules”. Katie Putrick did a BBC documentary on yacht rock and included Drive by the Cars. That did not go down well.

STeVE would have been a shoe-in for the Cha Cha Hall Of Fame if Audio Fidelity hadn't waltzed right into oblivion.

What’s interesting about that is that Bill Traut signed Styx to his label Wooden Nickel Records and produced their first few albums. A couple years earlier, he also produced Coven’s album Witchcraft Destroys Minds and Reaps Souls, where he wrote the closing track “Satanic Mass”. The members of Styx may or may not have worshipped the theistic Satan, but their professional career was almost single handedly launched by someone who definitely did.

These forums are something else. God and Christ are strictly taboo, but Satan is A-ok and I just have to grin and bear it when this stuff pops up. The same with the sly political winks and nods with the "woke" crowd. If its something I'm uncomfortable with, its like "Too bad, get over it." I am kinda over it. I've got nothing in common with the vast majority here and the detatchment I feel with everyone has gotten larger and wider. Oh well. I may pop back from time to time, but for the most part I think I'm done with this place. Oh well. Peace. forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/was-styx-a-satanic-group.864829/page-2#post-21761438I feel sad for that guy. It is a terribly dispiriting place. Genuinely took me months to re-like listening to music again after I stumbled into a few of their *social commentary* threads.

There's stupidity, and then there's being openly homophobic when your online handle is an homage to Judas Priest.

Whew! And here I was, afraid that Brexit revealed an inability to set one's priorities. Cheers, Englishbob! Mate.
