Yeah, being an asshole is definitely a job requirement.

There should be an obligatory ear test before any of those gorfs comment on sound quality related issues. Their average age is probably 70+. Hoofy's hearing probably tops out at 7KHZ now. Useless for mastering any shit. That's probably why he is getting no work now. He was (allegedly) making "nut job" mid range decisions to compensate for his lack of upper end in the last SACD's he worked on. That's what they sounded like to me anyway.

Herr Tonmeister never does deny the Viglinks accusation. He just says no one cares. He is snippy, though.

If Hodgo were American and lived in a HOA neighborhood, he'd be the fucker reporting you to the board if your grass was a quarter inch too long. In all fairness, a quarter inch is long to him.

The only value I can imagine is a database to sell to advertisers. You'd have to be a fucking idiot to think it is anything but this. Of course it helps that 99% of SHites have proven time and time again that they are champion league idiots. Note that Hoffman always doges this by completely ignoring the question whenever it is brought up. The first time I asked about those virgin links, my post was deleted in less than 2 hours.

Bruce Springsteen - Live Archive ReleasesI won't be pulling the trigger unless I know they haven't crushed the life out of it. I expect I'll be disappointed on that score but I live in hope that for once they've mastered it well. I'm not rubbing it in when I say I have no idea what anyone is talking about regarding mastering - I really don't. I play them off the app, they sound fine, I'm happy, good times. Heard a few tracks on Sirius-XM, sounded good to me given the limitations of that method of delivery. To hell with DR figures, listen to it! What equipment do you use? Your profile is empty so I can't tell, but anyone with good hearing and a fairly reasonable hi-fi should be able to hear how truly awful these things sound. Sirius XM radio in the car as I stated, wasn't that clear? You did say Sirius XM but nothing about the car nor the equipment in the car. Regardless of whether you had or not there was no need to be dismissive of those that can't enjoy modern loudness wars mastering, "To hell with DR figures, listen to it!". Equipment? Galaxy phone and some Bluetooth speaker that looked cool. Sometimes if I'm feeling it I'll cast to a Samsung tv. I guarantee you I can't hear anything wrong. Just lucky, I guess If that is genuinely how you listen to music then please put that in your equipment profile, otherwise please refrain from making any further comments on sound related issues. I love the Tower Theatre show; I think it's the best archive series release! This sounds fine to me, a pretty damn good mix, though maybe a little thin. Oh the drums sound GREAT now on It's My Life! What equipment are listening to this on? Please fill out your equipment profile otherwise kindly refrain from commenting on sound quality issues. Well, at risk of arguing with a moderator on an audiophile message board (and, for the record, I agree with your take on these releases).... We're not talking about official quality releases here. We're talking about quickly and cheaply put together releases of 45 year-old live tapes. They're gonna sound like what they sound like. Loudness, compression, brickwalling is a thing whether you're listening on a £10k set-up, or you've just put a memory stick in the dashboard of your Dacia Sandero. Hell, I can tell the difference, listening to my ipod with £50 AKG headphones, between my mp3 rip of Aja, which sounds wonderful, and the flac files of Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hoffs' Under The Covers, which pummel my brain into mush and give me a headache the next day. I don't need Bang and Olufsen to help me spot the difference. The variable here isn't people's equipment. It's their ears, preferences, tolerances. And they can't list that. Merry Christmas, baby! Would you like to tell our host @steve Hoffman that this rule of his and our enforcing of it is tiresome. Are you suggesting that we should have rules but not enforce them? I agree with you to a point but you could have posted these thoughts without publicly criticising our rules or the actions of a moderator.

Is that really all he has to do on Sunday? Day after Christmas no less? Harass dumbasses about their systems? The car one is the one that got me the most. Yeah, I have all sorts of EQs and a $5,000 Alpine system for the 10 minute drive to Safeway. Morons.
