The next time you decide to thwart a shoplifter, consider thisJust because you see a weird looking person put a hand in their pocket in a store doesn't mean they are stealing. If you didn't witness an actual theft, think twice about reporting it. After many years of shopping happily at a popular NYC music store, I will never set foot in there again. All because a customer saw me put my phone in my pocket. I love the people who say "I'd sue them for falsely accusing me of shoplifting!". Oh really? You'd spend the money on a lawyer and all the time it takes to file paperwork and show up to court? Or would you just let it go because that's the cheaper option. The shop owner probably already has a pretty good lawyer and you'd probably lose your case agains the store owner because he could say they were just trying to protect themselves against potential loses.

Also: don't masturbate until you get back to your car.

Next time just march straight up the proprietor, hold the phone up to him and show him the waveform.

Also: don't masturbate until you get back to your car. I always mess up that part.

Stealing wasn't the word I was thinking of.

I'm left scratching over "popular NYC music store." I thought they were all long gone.

They could be reaching for their phone to pull up some waveforms.

I think one of those SHite Heads once got banned from a record store for complaining about a CD being played at the store was brickwalled. Once he whipped out his phone with a waveform and they threw his ass out.

I was actually thinking about this and considered that possibly he meant a music store with instruments and the like, rather than a record store. All the rekkid stores are history. Even Secondhand Rose, which I liked because they did vinyl rips. I needed one done around this time last year and thought I was shit outta luck when I discovered they went under. Thankfully I found a recording studio that offered ripping service.
