Can we delete the Monkees? There's a dozen pages on a Monkees super deluxe box. Seems the only person who knew that the Monkees was just a TV show played by hired actors was Davey Jones himself and he's dead and can't clue these embarrassing Barbie doll hoarders into the truth. They wouldn't even believe Jones though.

You’ll soon learn that whenever folks around here disparage either the Monkees or RHCP, I take it upon myself to poat even more of their stuff! 😈 (Slow-motion shots of guys jumping over fountains and Peter Tork’s harpsichord solo! What’s not to love?) [FWIW, the old waiter dude at the end of this clip was played by actor Olan Soule. He was the cartoon voice of Batman (!) during the sixties and seventies!]

That picture of Fred is his attempt at one-upping some poor schlub who's very proud of having the signatures of all four Monkees. There's minor drama in one of the Monkees threads in which a poster is suggesting that Fred's five-star reviews of compilations of songs Davy Jones recorded on cassette while on the toilet may not be the most objective.

But anyway I'm on my way to the local indi store to get the latest box set from Martin Landau & Barbra Bain.

Fred’s zealotry is actually quite amazing. (Has his late-80’s group photo made its appearance yet?)

The funny thing is that at least two of the Monkees look like they want to die in that photo. Anyway, it's cute how he took a Facebook post, pasted it into his blog, and is now acting like your go-to inside source for the new box set.

It has been years since I’ve seen it, but isn’t Mike just standing there with arms crossed and glowering? Who else had the stink-eye?

I guess I remembered it wrong, since Tork and Dolenz managed to smile and Jones doesn't look particularly miserable. There's a second pic of Fred with just Nesmith at a different point and Nesmith is glowering there, too. I wonder if Fred covers this in either of his books.

I dug up this, based on y'all's clues here. Serious 10th-grade-geometry-teacher-during-a-test vibes from Nesmith! Davy "do you really need to take a pic of this?" Jones Bonus round:

Marvellous. I am the (might as well say it) proud owner of three Monkees signatures, including a dedication from Nesmith but they’re all in a box of ephemera at the back of the shed, and definitely not on my fucking wall.
Like nearly all autographed stuff I own, all of them were just a chance acquisition; I’ve never actively asked someone to sign something unless they’re doing it after a gig and it’s convenient for everyone. It’s nice to have, but I don’t get the appeal of chasing someone for their signature.

We can't delete The Monkees until we finally get to hear the 27 minute version of If I Ever Get To Saginaw Again.
