STax o' wax said:In a unusual listening phase I've engaged in now for approximately 3 weeks.
I've listened to nothing else but rock music from the three year span of 1969 to 1971.
This was started by accident when I went on a early Jethro Tull, Grand Funk, Ten Years After listening session over a lazy Sunday three weeks ago and I became so satisfied by what I was hearing that I knowingly decided to stay in that time period until I grow tired of it.
Instead of growing tired of it I have actually become addicted to it.
I have added many bands to the equation since that first day including Deep Purple's earliest, Pink Floyds Ummagumma hit home strong!....King Crimson's earliest, Yes - Time And A word, and The Yes Album.
Black Sabbath's first and Paranoid, The Doors first was a perfect add, Savoy Brown - Raw Sienna, some Zappa and The Mothers, and some Uriah Heep,Van Der Graff Generator,Traffic and Harrisons All Things Must Pass Is On Deck.
I have to say this has been one of the most fruitful and enjoyable listening experiences I can remember.
Those years are magic.
Thoughts, experiences, suggestions?
You are a fucking retard. "Ummagumma hit home strong!" <--you sound like such a clueless dweeb. Hit home how? You are an axe murderer or a species of furry creature?
In 1989, I once remarked to a fellow Gen X'er how fucking boring rock radio was, because everything they played was from 1969 to 1971. That was 28 years ago.
Why not do something really radical and listen to anything but albums from 1969-1971 for three weeks? Or really live on the edge and only listen to albums from 2016-2017 for three weeks? If you tried the latter, I promise you'll find some life-changing, paradigm-changing new favorites. Well, actually, probably you wouldn't. But people into music might.
The dribble that follows is all the usual stuff...best era ever, you ought to listen to Mountain, you really need to branch out and include 1972, Paul McCartney!, you idiot the Doors album you played was from 1967, a cool thread which has me wallowing in pure nostalgia (maybe one should attempt to never "wallow" in anything in life, just an idea?), snarky joke about today's music, if ya run out of records to listen to get into listening to old FM airchecks, man ya gotta hear Steppenwolf 7, I was born in the 80's and I never listen to music made after my parents' birth, etc. et. al. The usual expressions of grand mal retardation.
