Ok, so what do I expect to see in a thread where the topic is cable risers, especially from dunces that think they can hear the difference a $500 power cord makes, but this is prime SHiTe here: I just draped the Odins (speaker cable and power cords) over the back of chairs or whatever else I could do to get them off the floor - just for the heck of it, and curious if it would be audible on ribbon speaker cable - waited a bit (20 minutes) for the cables to "settle" and played the cut again. Waiting for cables to “settle” is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard. If you thought you needed a facepalm headache today, here’s the place to get it: forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/cable-elevators.1049457/

I think this might be the worst post I’ve seen over there, and it’s the second time he’s recounting the story (also, this isn’t the entire post). Who is this chump? There’s proper ‘...and then everybody cheered’ vibes going on.

I saw that one, too. I thought my browser didn’t refresh for a second. I get some cables don’t shield well and trying to keep power away from speaker cables or interconnects and it really looks to me like that’s what they’re doing mostly, but that thread is so fucking stupid. The magazine he’s talking about must have been a total joke. Someone else says even their daughter can hear the difference when he lifts the cable with his toe.
Maybe tighten those connections, Bucko. While you’re at it you can see if you’re connected in phase. Audiophiles struggle with that one, too.

I'm surprised STeVE hasn't chimed in bragging about the $10,000 cables he has "on loan," while admonishing everybody to "get the good stuff."

All that money and effort, and they still can’t recapture that feeling they had in 1970 when they were 17 and listening to Grand Funk Railroad on a Garrard.

I thought the goal was to get back to the sound of listening to an 8-track in the back of a car as a kid whilst their parents ran errands. That’s the ultimate SHite sweet spot.
