Does Anyone Still Use the Pono Player?

It's bad enough that people bought into the hype of Neil Young's portable device. But to think the OP was a kickstarter contributor and has no idea what the device actually was or how it worked?
My primary method of playing music is with a portable CD player and earphones, however the CD player has suddenly died.
I have a Pono player that I bought with Neil Young’s initial Kickstarter campaign, but I only used it for a couple of weeks and now it just collects dust.
Can I rip CDs to the Pono? Which is the easiest way? Does the Pono need special software? Is ALAC the best format for efficient storage and CD sound quality? How many CDs can I expect the Pono to hold?

Maybe I should just buy another portable CD player, but hardly anyone makes them these days.

And of course to get the best out of that $400 paperweight, you need to buy an expensive aftermarket cable:
To get best SQ with your Pono, I recommend buying balanced cable for your headphones and using balanced mode in Settings.
It will play ALAC files along with AAC, MP3, WAV and FLAC.
