I don’t like that dude from GR Research or this Paul McGowan guy, mostly because they are constantly offering “fixes” for things humans can’t hear. A cap is a cap, Danny. It doesn’t matter if it’s 18 cents for B&W to get them in bulk or you to get them from another company for a quarter so you can resell them for 5 bucks in a kit to make your speakers “better.” McGowan sells expensive power conditioners because if you’ve got the ears you can hear the difference between clean or dirty power.
The fuckwit doesn’t tell you he is testing his new speakers in a room where they sit right under the air conditioner, though.

I used to be disgusted by these charlatans. But now I'm almost glad they're out there, because they're siphoning money from assholes who would otherwise give it to Trump 2024 or something equally vile.

This reminds me of an article someone wrote about comparing with Beatles remasters, mentioning A Hard Day's Night using the kind of language you might expect but somehow not noticing, or at least mentioning, that odd EQ thing on the intro which stands out a mile. Someone I know has some kind of Linn turntable, uni-pivot arm and really expensive cartridge but was really impressed with these little anti vibration feet or whatever they were I was thinking do you seriously think they've under-engineered your x-thousand turntable by £60?

The thing that drives me nuts is that so many of them insist on these stupid gear profiles, or talk about how this piece of copper is better than that piece of copper, and they all think that the more money you spend on equipment, the more valid your opinion is regarding sound quality. I don’t hav3 a problem with McGown having an air conditioner in his room. I have a problem with him saying you need his $3000 power conditioner to be able to hear what’s going on with your music. For that price, you can get the air conditioner off your wall and make a difference anyone can hear.

Any thread with Tullman and F1nut is complete shit.

This made me chuckle. Mr. Golden Ears unobtanium-priced cable defender Tullman on the UHQR Are You Experienced reissue:
Tullman:
Shawn:
Tullman:
Shawn:
So Tullman - one of the biggest advocates of high-priced voodoo - either has a system with cables that make a tambourine or a hi-hat sound like 'wooden' maracas or this dumb-ass has no clue what instruments sound like. Guessing both options are correct. That's perhaps the most annoying thing about these cable snobs - they have no fucking clue what an instrument sounds like but yet they hear these 'night and day' differences in power cables and interconnects.

The piano on AYE has been there from the moment I heard it on a scratchy vinyl version on a JVC turntable.
Tullman is the buffoon with the high end system crammed into an outdoor shed.

Yeah, your copper is 99.999999% pure, but do you know what's in that other oo.ooooo1%? Didn't think so, pal, didn't think so.

Those people are insufferable. I just wasted 5 minutes of my life Googling Tullman's system cost. I believe the speaker cables alone start out at $5,000 a meter. I guess if I was gullible enough and rich enough to indulge and if I was equally dumb enough to spend $125 on a record that never sounded that good to begin with, I'd be hearing maracas too. These "audiophiles" aren't exactly in the prime of their youth anymore. Why is it that the ones peddling this nonsense are mostly retirement age white guys?

Listen, people can buy whatever they want, but you’d really have to be an idiot to throw that much money away on a meter of cable. That’s just sheer stupidity.

They're the only ones that can afford all of this overpriced audiofool junk. Just like these $125 Hendrix vinyl pressings there praising. Of course, they are going to say these are the best. It's like eating a $15.00 dollar steak and a $150.00 dollar steak. One guess what they will say tastes better even though it's maybe not.

They're high on confirmation bias and sunk cost fallacy.

Is there an audible difference between a $25 a meter cable and a $5000 a meter cable? Not that I’d spend $25 on a meter of cable.

They're high on confirmation bias and sunk cost fallacy. Wasn't it Jamie Tate on YouTube who untwisted some coat hangers and used them to connect his speakers? Anyway, as I recall there was no discernible difference in fidelity with wire. Deep thoughts.
