The problem isn't that too many Americans are complete shitheads. The overwhelming majority of Americans want stricter gun laws.
What I meant is that too many people automatically choose any candidate with an “R” next to his/her name – without giving it any thought. Why not elect people who will change the status quo? You need a license to drive a car. You need to be 21 to buy liquor and cigarettes. Yet, shithole states like Texas have pretty much removed all regulations for acquiring a gun. The douchebag governor of that state even staged a goddamn signing party when he did it! Hell, Americans are now poised to give the Republicans back the keys to the Senate and House! How fucked up is that? Most of the people who were OK with TFG’s coup attempt will once again be calling the shots! So, yeah, I stand by my original assessment that too many Americans are complete shitheads. Going with Suze on this one. In 2020 there was 78 million of them.

To all the despicable fuckers who trot out the HAW YOU LIBS CANT EVEN DEFINE AN ASSAULT WEAPON shit: The US did that pretty well in 1994, and even our retarded 2022 Congress could update it, if it wanted to. "The Federal Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 defined certain firearms as assault weapons based on the features they possessed. This included semi-automatic rifles with a detachable magazine and at least two of these features: a pistol grip, a folding or telescoping stock, a flash suppressor or threaded barrel, a bayonet mount, or a muzzle-mounted grenade launcher. It included semi-automatic pistols with a detachable magazine and at least two of these features: a magazine that attaches outside the pistol grip, a threaded barrel, a barrel shroud, or an unloaded weight of 50 ounces or more. Additionally defined as assault weapons were semi-automatic shotguns with a rotating cylinder, or with at least two of these features: a pistol grip, a folding or telescoping stock, a detachable magazine, or a fixed magazine that can hold more than five rounds. The ban also prohibited 19 specifically named models of firearms, as well as copies of those guns. These included the AK-47, Uzi, Galil, AR-15, FN FAL, MAC-10, Steyr AUG, TEC-9, and Armsel Striker."

The much simpler answer to those assholes is that my noninterest in the details of their hobby/obsession is not the least bit relevant to the issue. It's like saying you need to be a gearhead to support speed limits. The even simpler answer, of course, is Fuck off

If Ted Cruz and Greg Abbott were both in a burning car, but you only had time to save one of them, what kind of ice cream would you go buy after you you stood back, waited for the fire to reach the gas tank, and watched the car explode?

I have no idea what the fuck good it's going to do, but I'll be attending my state's March For Our Lives in a couple of weeks. The only hope I have is that the more noise we make, the more we will be heard. Enough of this shit already.

Too late for the damage control, Larry Gatlin, Lee Greenwood (who wrote the exercable MAGA anthem "God Bless The USA"), Don McLean and Larry Stewart. The Nuge is PISSED at you fuckers.
Someone I never heard of named Jacob Bryant is still performing. My guess is he's some second-rate bro-country chode.

This is eerie. In 2013, David Letterman went off on asshole Republicans who refused to support gun controls.
He’s not profane, but digs into them just the same.
Notice how many these loathsome pricks are still in office in 2022. (It once again proves my theory that a vast amount of Americans are complete shitheads.)

I kind of get it with the cops. I wouldn't want to run into a building where I hear a machine gun mowing people down when I have a pistol and a taser to bring the guy down with. I know, they signed up for the job, but I get it. The cops have asked for regulations against machine guns and the only regulations we give them are "more machine guns means more school shootings so hey, job security amirite?"

I don't know if I should laugh or cry after watching that. I laughed. The sardonicism in Dave’s voice when talking about those assholes is funnier than if he merely attacked them.

Oh I got that, Suze. As a former registered Letterman junkie, that was the "laughing" part. The crying part was the realization that sleazebags like Paul, Johnson and Cruz are still leaving their trails of slime in the halls of the Senate ten years later.
