Maybe Peter Jackson pitched Paul and Ringo a concept or unique angle on a Beatles biopic. With Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocket Man (both of which Giles worked on), now Elvis, and soon Dylan, all helping rack up sales and lots of new attention for those artists, someone in the Beatles camp must be thinking "Why not the Fabs?" I think the big question would be from perhaps Olivia & Dhani and/or Sean about how George and John are portrayed since they are not here to approve a script or casting. Setting the story prior to 1968, and not covering the breakup would avoid a lot of script contentions, and avoid Yoko's appearance which might be best for all involved.... But now Jackson is in Apple's good graces so he's probably the only one in the running to direct it, regardless of scope. IF a Beatles biopic emerges, I really hope Paul and Ringo would work together on some new original instrumental music for the film that would support the classic tracks. That would only make sense.

Because we don't need a fucking Beatles biopic. Everything that can be said or known about the Beatles has been said. Jesus. How much more is there to say?

So if Peter Jackson does it based on Lewisohn's books it will be 530 hours long.

Not happy with the several weeks worth of video footage of the Beatles? Now you can see Harry Styles telling the queen to rattle her jewelry while Paul (Timotheee Chalamet), George (Michael B. Jordan), and Ringo (motion-captured Andy Serkis) guffaw!

I’d rather have a movie about Wings.

True that would be a tall task. MMT is very episodic with only the bus tying everything together. There's no through-line theme or plot at all. It's just a bit of frivolous "magic" isn't it? But, taking on the Magical Mystery Tour footage with the following two approaches could be intriguing and present an alternate view of the project, just as Get Back did successfully for Let it Be. 1. A visual album. All 11 tracks of the US MMT edition get a music video comprised of MMT footage, outtake footage from the making of the film, and other 1967 footage of the band (Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, A Day in the Life, All You Need is Love, and Hello Goodbye promo films could be mined for imagery). All 11 music videos are stitched together, perhaps with animations and voice overs or brief snippets of scenes from the original MMT to create a flowing visual experience through the entire album. 2. An animated film. What if the original live action MMT is used as inspiration to create a new animated Beatles adventure using all the MMT songs and basic concept of the band and a bunch of weirdos on a magic bus trip. Instead of remaking Yellow Submarine, maybe Paul and Ringo like Peter Jackson's idea of creating a new improved Magical Mystery Tour film with an actual script, surreal animated visuals, and using remixes and outtakes of the songs throughout? Similarly, MMT could be remade in a live action form with actors portraying the band, etc., a small slice of a biopic focusing on perhaps the band's strangest detour, then MMT really becomes a meta-narrative.

I've come around to really wanting Peter Jackson's idea he pitched to Paul and Ringo to be a remake and reimagining of Magical Mystery Tour. Use the band's music from 1967 + outtakes and remixes as the soundtrack but cast actors as the Beatles and the wild bus-load of characters (some from the original, some new), but write an actual script for a surreal adventure film. The basic concept for MMT is a great one. It just fell flat because it was so improvised and odd. But a talented script-writer can take the concept and the music and craft a much better film. Peter Jackson can find the best writer for it and direct the film. Maybe Paul and Ringo could actually cameo as other characters ha, two old men on a bench who say something funny about the weird bus that just stopped by. To coincide with this, Apple can finally remix MMT and issue a box set, etc. Forget remaking Yellow Submarine. Magical Mystery Tour is the Beatles movie that needs a redo, and this allows the Beatles to get into the modern band biopic game like Queen, Elton and Elvis, but with a surreal spin to it (and avoiding things like the breakup and Yoko that prob won't ever be dramatized with authorization). That's definitely a cool idea! And it would be fun to see. :righton: Whether or not it might actually happen...? I'd say the odds are probably about as good as any of the other wild Beatles/PJ ideas we've seen on the forum. [That's not a knock, just we will not know what the project actually is until it is much closer to fruition...] I could totally see Paul & Ringo as two old men sitting in the back of the bus throwing out the occasional comments like "oh, it's not at all like it used to be, is it?"
