So if I can count, that's 6 separate sessions in which at least something was done on "Now and Then". Perhaps on all 6 occasions George didn't play a thing, but I really doubt it. Something of George playing on the track is in the can, even if its a minimal detail used in a final mix. Maybe it'll never be completed, but I believe it is still possible to make it a Beatles record in the same way the other two were, without having to resort to flying in something George played at a Beatles session in the 60s. That's my only point. And now the buzz that was bothering them and other technical limits are not an issue. The demo can be de-mixed and remixed and quantized easily. It's possible! I think finishing Now and Then would be perfect for the roll out of an expanded/upgraded Anthology on a streaming service. Drop the new "single" as the final credits song in the documentary on Hulu, then a week later issue Now and Then on digital and vinyl, coupled with new "ultimate" mixes of Free as a Bird and Real Love (using demix tech) as an EP. I have thought this for years... but I think "now & then" is finished. The day Paul dies, it gets released, and the Beatles have their final #1.
