This is why I think a 1975 album by John is the greatest what-if. John's all over the charts in late '74 and early '75. Imagine he capitalizes on that and records an album (and Bowie guests on it to return the favor) in '75. It could have been made before Sean was born and released after, in late '75 or early '76.

John Lennon did release an album in 1975, the execrable Spector-produced Rock-N-Roll.

John's all over the charts in late '74 and early '75. If he means Elton John, John Denver, and Olivia Newton-John, then I agree! John Lennon? Two top-ten singles one year and a #20 the next is about the same as what Joni Mitchell or James Taylor had at that time. Not bad, but "all over the charts"? Beatards always must speak in hyperbole. It's like their own language or something.

The SHite's probably including Bowie's Fame in his ranting, but even then, "all over the charts" is a stretch.
