I do, too. And I'm a lyrics person. But I gained a new respect for Anthony Kiedis and the band in general when I heard the words of "Californication." My favorite lines are these:
"Space may be the final frontier, but it's made in a Hollwood basement.
And Cobain, can you hear the spheres singing songs off Station to Station?
And Alderran's not far away. It's Californication."
Feel free to flame me if you want, but I'm an English teacher with a specialization in poetry, and these lyrics struck me as poetic. And I'm thinking, "This is the same guy who gave us 'Special Secret Song Inside?'"
But the day I heard "Californication" is the day I went from being a casual to a serious Chili Peps fan. YMMV.
