forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/acknowledging-madonna-is-white-and-not-black-with-a-sticker.726923/
There is all kinds of dysfunction going on in this thread...
First of all, the premise itself is kinda weird:
Whether or not this anecdote is true, it is a strange topic, especially for a newcomer.
I do remember hearing "Borderline" on the radio when it was new and thinking it was the Pointer Sisters or LaBelle. I am not sure I believe that stickers were placed on her records to show she was white, although who knows? More likely, a sticker was added because people are less likely to buy an unknown artist without a pic than with one.
Already, I imagine Ares and Bobby Morrow becoming friends... Imagine being so obsessed with an artist you can actually recognize specific photo shoots and alternate poses and things. I mean, what kind of loser would fill his head with that kind of stuff...? Oh, wait, Beatards do.
The deafening sound of crickets is getting to him...
It is rather confusing what Ares started the thread about... So, his point is not about race, but just that he wants to find an image of the sticker? He didn't mention that in his first post.
Malina shows up to demonstrate how much he knows about radio, but ultimately demonstrates how clumsy he is with wikipedia:
Malina apparently thinks there is only one 102.7 FM station in the country...
Next, in a dick move, Malina gets snotty with Ares over his (Malina's) own mistaken assumption. Ares never said anything about WNEW; Malina is the only one to mention it.
Bravo for you, you dummy.
Next, the musicologists show up:
"Heavy Supremes influence??" It sounds nothing like the Supremes. Have you ever even heard the Supremes? I think my guesses of the Pointer Sisters or LaBelle were a lot closer...
Meanwhile, Ares doesn't notice that Malina was being a douche and thanks him:
Man, what I would give to have that "Disco Brat" KISS-FM jacket. Can you imagine the reaction of the ladies at the bar when I walk in wearing that? It's almost as good as being Rick Dees himself.
At this point onward, nothing in this thread makes any fucking sense at all:
I guess since Deaf_in_ LA_1974's first attempt at humor failed, he's trying another.
Up to this point, I assumed Ares was a Latino and probably gay male. I wasn't sure that English was even his first language. But this comment makes me think he has race on the brain after all. Just think, through some wacky fluke of DNA, you might have black in you!!
Chris DeVoe thinks it is safe to join in now:
Hahaha, good one Chris, you fucking retard. What are you saying? That Queen Elizabeth is not British but German?!? hee hee haw haw, that's funny!
No, you can't be that stupid. You must be making a joke about the rock group Queen, right? But wait, so the joke is Queen is German?? No, that doesn't make one whit of fucking sense either... Is he obliquely and autistically satirizing the Pope? Is this some kind of stupid Beatles pun I am missing?
But Chris isn't a Beatard is he? And this thread has nothing to do with the Beatles in any way whatsoever, so there is no way even the most Beatarded moron out there would have anything to say about it... I mean, even the smelliest, fattest, dim-wittedist Beatard is out of luck on this thread. Madonna and Rick Dees and black people. That's all there is to work with here...
Simply amazing. It is like Tourette's syndrome or something. They can't help themselves; they are just too weak in the head.
Even Ares is not willing to put up with Beatle geekotry in his thread:
I kind of like how he capitalized 'please', but I would have used a period after "subject" to isolate it.
Yes, very helpful asshole. Next?
I find it kind of sad that nobody knows what an apostrophe is for anymore, but never mind that. Before we all start tsk-tsking the racist motives of Madonna and her handlers and shedding tears for the injustice of the record industry, let us remember that all we have is the word of Ares Flores who barely seems to know what the fuck he is talking about. However if there is one thing SHites are good at, besides complaining, it is issuing utterly insincere platitudes.
Got any where she is posed doggystyle? Jeez, who fucking scours the internet for goddamn poses?!?
Another know-nothing musicologist offers total bullshit:
Oh, black rhythm songs had "no chance" of getting airplay on pop stations in the early 80's?!? On what fucking planet? Just looking at the top singles of 1981-1982, I see names like Kool and the Gang, A Taste of Honey, Raydio, The Pointer Sisters, Commodores, Earth Wind & Fire, Donna Summer, Deneice Williams, etc.
I don't know why blacks get blamed for disco anyway? Most of the biggest disco acts were white.
You are thanking him for that batshit comment?
Well, I guess you were smarter than us all, Mike. You are so intelligently.
SHF's one saving grace is there actually are people who have a relatively clear-headed recollection or knowledge of music there who will step in to correct fellow SHite's bullshit. Thanks, davers.
And then there are the Beatards, except that "Beatard" is no longer adequate. A more offensive term is needed for Beatards with anime girls as avatards. HAHAHA FUNNY JOKE, you pathetic, infantile, sexually confused little cartoon freak.
At this point, the Beatards fucking take over Madonna's thread:

Greetings Forum!
I have a story to share, passed down from my Uncle Paris. He worked for 102.7 f.m. as Rick Dees assistant during the 1970's-1980's. Sorry for repeating myself, but this is his story on the Madonna sticker used to identify her on her first single "Everybody".
If your not familiar with the Everybody single, Madonna is not pictured on the cover. By the sound of her voice, there were rumors that Madonna was a Black American Singer. So, a very fast solution was to produce a sticker of her to add to her Everybody Cover to LP's provided to DJ's and radio stations . Uncle Paris did not specify who produced the stickers to slap on the cover. I posted this sticker as my profile pic. It doesn't seem like a very flattering pic of Madonna.

I cannot find this same exact image of Madonna on the internet. I found a pic from the same photo shoot, but she is in a different position in this sticker. I wonder if this sticker was really just produced for her first release "Everybody" single to DJ's. Does anyone have any knowledge about this?

Lol...I apologize if you misunderstood my post.
That sticker was added to promotional vinyl records at the beginning of her career when she released her first single "Everybody", and she was not pictured on that cover. So before anyone saw her on TV, there were rumors she was black........The question I have, is if you are a Madonna fan, have you ever seen this sticker before? I cannot find an identical image to this sticker online.

Are you sure Rick Dees was at 102.7 WNEW? That doesn't sound right as that was a rock station, not Top 40. This is what Wikipedia says, "Dees left KHJ, taking a morning position at KIIS-FM in July 1981." and he was in Memphis before that.

Ares Flores daid:
My uncle was already employed at 102.7 before Rick was employed there. When Rick started at 102.7, my uncle became his assistant.

Thanks for the update. I don't know the exact details on dates. Unfortunately my uncle Paris is now deceased. I do know he was close with Rick, because Rick had a kiss f.m jacket made for him giving him the nickname "disco brat". Rick personally signed records to him with personal messages. And Rick gave Paris a studio acetate with an unreleased track that was never produced or distributed.

Another know-nothing musicologist offers total bullshit:
The "Madonna is white" thing makes sense when you consider the times - the smoke was still clearing from the disco backlash and rhythmic songs by black artists had almost no chance of getting play on pop stations.
Of course, just a few months after "Everybody", a little ditty 'bout Billie Jean would change that.

That's not how I remember it. Earth Wind And Fire, Kool And The Gang, Stevie Wonder and Rick James ("Super Freak" anybody?) are just a few examples that were big on pop radio post-disco but pre-Billie Jean. Granted the classic disco sound had long faded away, but fresh sounding R&B seemed to be doing fine.

Madonna was black. After the Like a Virgin lp, she was involved in a car accident and died. Because she was becoming a phenomena, the record company did not want "Madonna" to die, so they got a replacement to stand in for her career from that date. They couldn't find a suitable black person within a tight timespan, so they put a white girl in to replace her. They figured that her audience only danced to her music so they didn't really know what she looked like.
The funny thing is, with Madonna being a spiritual person and all that, is that she had a premonition that she would come to this end. So she left clues on her albums and album covers so her fans would know the truth. For example, the Everybody cover above shows her fans running to her aide when she had her accident. However, the white person who replaced "Madonna" didn't feel entirely comfortable with her role, so she left clues in her lyrics and record covers recorded after her death to let Madonna's real fans know the truth. I'm not going to list the clues here, but I'm sure they will be obvious when you look for them. Someone tried to create a website showing the truth, but it was closed by the FBI and NASA. There is a rumor that the current "Madonna" is the daughter of someone who was a Paul McCartney stand-in, but I cannot confirm or deny that.
