I know you've been dying for it, so here it is!!
SHite Top Albums of All Time Poll (2018 Edition)
forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/top-album-of-all-time-poll-results.727431/
Unfortunately, the guy running the poll is even more of a dweeb than usual, so he didn't get nearly as many responses as prior polls did. Still, the results were pretty much the same as always.
Analysis:
The Beatles take the top two slots as usual.
The Beatles made four of the ten greatest albums ever, also as usual.
The average date of issue for a Top-10 album is 1969
Number of albums in the Top 50 released after 1980: 3
Albums in the Top 50 released after 1975: 3
Albums in the Top 100 released after 1985: 4
Number of albums by women in the Top 50: 0 (unless Rumours or VU & Nico count, which they shouldn't)
Number of albums by black artists in the Top 50: 3
Number of jazz albums in the Top 100: 2
Number of non-jazz albums by black artists in the top 100: 4
Does the entire Beatles catalog make the list? Yes.
Ram is a greater musical achievement than: almost any album ever recorded, except for a few by the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Doors, and Pink Floyd
Highest charting woman: Kate Bush, 59th
Highest charting woman who isn't Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell, or Carole King: Sinead O'Connor, #185
Number of albums released in the 21st century in the top-250: 1 (Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips)
Number of indie label albums in the Top 100: 1
Number of surprises: 0
Thanks to tepid participation, this is actually the most open-minded and far-reaching list the SHites have ever managed (more participation would have ensured some of the moderately interesting albums at the bottom of the list would have been eliminated, and solo Beatles would be more prevalent)
It is still a shit list. Not that we expected anything different from the Shite, but yawnarino. I can't begin to express how tired I am of people perennially claiming Pet Sounds and Revolver are the greatest albums ever made; no use in anyone ever trying to top them.
Would it fucking kill these guys to embrace a 1990's album, or get into an album by a woman or black artist? Doesn't Led Zeppelin get fucking boring once you grow older than 18?
Fucking boring old farts. These guys ought to be embarrassed by these lists, but instead they tend to respond with "Ahhh, more proof the Fabbies' shit tastes like caviar" and "more proof that absolutely fucking nothing good can come from a woman or a black or anyone born after the Baby Boom"
How can anyone claim to love music and yet be so non-curious about it?
Pathetic.
