Reading between the lines of that crap actually once again reveals how truly clueless the self-styled "mastering engineer" is about vinyls. Let's not forget that Kevin Gray was the (a real/actual) engineer on all the DCC and Audio Fidelity rekkid titles. Hooofman doesn't know diddly-squat about about vinyl and couldn't cut a record if his sorry-assed, trust-funded life depended on it. Fuck you, asshole.

I can't get over the $150,000 phono preamp. And you never will because you actually work for a living and respect what it means to earn money. This fucking lackey has done nothing but sponge off his trust fund. Even if I won the lottery I couldn’t bring myself to spend that much money on something so dopey.

You guys don't seriously believe any of this bullshit Hoofy's claiming, do you? More fodder for the Internal Revenue Service, though, I suppose.

Hasn’t the majority of his uber expensive stereo equipment been gifted or loaned to him?

"At first I felt something was missing and then a little 'tick' went by. "I gasped, hit in the chest "That was Heaven for me. "My jaw dropped."
He was having a stroke.

I know my hearing is still pretty good, as it’s been checked recently. I know what music sounds like in a good recording studio. As I was listening to new mixes yesterday, I thought about how close my modest vintage stereo gear sounds to what I heard in the studio, in a treated room with very expensive monitors. I have zero interest in chasing ‘better’ sound, as it’s a road that leads nowhere.
The fact that these people think they are hearing something in six figure home equipment leaves me speechless. And that’s setting aside how wrecked their 70 year old hearing is.
It’s all about the elitism.

I did work for a living for 30 years. Stopped at 47 to help raise my niece, who's now my daughter. Long, long, long story...played gigs fairly often for a while. My wife stayed in her job. It was the best way we could make it work. Any more detail, and I'd be venturing deep into TMI territory. Anyway, of course hoofy didn't pay a dime for the $150k phono preamp, which I guess is on permanent loan?? None of the Audio Note shit really belongs to him. I have all the respect in the world for good design and craftsmanship, but I just can't work out how a preamp achieved a price of $150,000. I suppose AN knows their clientele, and just jacks everything up to 20x the overhead, or more.

Acousticians have actually demonstrated that one of the most unheralded factors in air circulation in a room is the wallet people carry. A wallet filled with banknotes tends to smother low, mid and high frequencies, causing a large amount of distorsion, plus loss of dynamics. You need to make your wallet lighter, and the best solution is to spend the money on overpriced crap.
