This is a personal story (so it might belong in everything else, not sure) I played a gig Saturday with my band that is somewhere in the melodic progressive metal genre. Think Dream Theater without the “wankery”. Turns out there were quite a few people that had traveled from foreign countries to Denmark to see us. There were 7 Americans there and this older lady spoke to me afterwards and said “i saw The Beatles at Shea Stadium in 65 and you were much better”. My jaw dropped. (Though considering the logistics of a 65 stadium ssound versus 50000 screamers i can understand how she felt). So enquired further and it turns out she is a Beatles fan too, she just happened to like us the more.
As a huge Beatles fan i can not agree with her ofcourse. For me noone will ever touch The Beatles in any way, but it was a nice accolade to have anyone say this to me.
