Space travel: Yea or Nay?
and seven more pages of absolute shit.
Space travel: Yea or Nay?
Ghostworld poats:
There seems to be an increased focus on all things space -- another rocket taking off every day. Are we finally in the Ray Bradbury age? Is conquering space a worthy goal, should we make it a priority? Or is it all sound and fury signifying nothing? What's your thought?

I think we all want to know what's out there. And of course, understanding our World and the Universe around us is a worthy goal, but it probably does come with substantial risk.

I think it's stupid and we should work on not concertedly ruining the planet we're already on.

On the one hand I would like to say yes but on the other, there may be s**t out there
we don't want to know about or we'd be better off not knowing about.
So for me, third catagory; Not Sure.

Yay.
Saying that what with the moon landing, bunch of rocks nothing redeemable there. Hopefully other planet landings "Mars" next I believe will prove to be more fruitful, ie water discovered.

I mean, if we find a nice warm planet, sure, I'll go. But Mars? It's a novelty. I mean, after we landed on the moon, there wasn't much of a "race" left to get back there.
"Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids..."
But it'll be exciting for a couple days! Maybe months. But to me, it's like going over a waterfall in a barrel at this point. Maybe some new tech will come out of it, maybe there won't. But I've always thought men were meant to be explorers. To quote Nixon: "Without risk there is no heroism."
