No fucking way is a retail chain going to have merchandise that is required to be "locked up" in-store for seven months until it can be sold. Target does this with toys though. Figures have "release dates" but often are shipped out much earlier. Target in particular will often be a bitch about it. They'll put stuff on display, then refuse to sell it to people. Let's not pretend that big box retail chains are reasonable.

I am enjoying the wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth over their beloved physical product phuckup.

You are really overestimating Target. I ordered something online to pick up in person. An hour after I placed the order, it said it was fulfilled and ready. I get there, go to the pick up counter. Not only have they not fulfilled my order, but the item is not even in stock. Whoever controlled the inventory that displayed online fucked up (it said 6 in stock) but whoever then saw my order and "fulfilled" it before actually going to see if they actually had anything fucked up. And then instead of a refund I got store credit because the only way to fix it was to enter it as if I returned the product (that didn't exist!!) for a refund.
This was when omicron was peaking and the whole reason I ordered online in the first place was to ensure that I wasn't going out to find nothing was in stock and also to limit my time in the store. Ended up empty handed AND in the store much longer than I would have been otherwise trying to resolve it.
I don't blame Disney at all for whatever is going on with the Get Back discs. But it would not surprise me at all if Target is fucking it up. Let's not act like the regional manager at Target really gives a shit or even has the time/resources to give a shit about a few crates of Beatle blu's sitting in the back for half a year.

What possible reason? A stupid mistake and no one able to fix it or interested in fixing it. If this was a small record store, then yeah, a manager would immediately try to solve this issue, either by selling the shit or shipping it back to the manufacturer. But this is like .01 percent of their inventory. No one paid attention to see they it shouldn't have been put on the shelves, no one would care if it sat in the back for 7 months or 7 years.

There is no instance in today's supply chain and just-in-time deliveries that anything sits anywhere for 7 months, period.

I don't give a fuck about Disney or Target or the asshole Target manager or the stupid fucking Beatles movie. I'm just saying that it doesn't add up to me that DVDs or Blu-rays or whatever the hell they are would be pressed, packaged and shipped ... to sit in stores for 7 months before being put on sale. What possible reason would there be for that? From skimming the LiB thread, it looks like there are some audio issues with the discs, so they will probably be sending them back instead of stockpiling them until September.

Peter Jackson has recently changed his cover pic on FB. He posted a clean “The Beatles Get Back” poster photo. Could that be a hint? Hope so..

And today this: We are writing to share some news about The Beatles: Get Back 3-Disc Blu-ray Collector's Edition you purchased from The Beatles Official Store. First of all, we want to sincerely apologize for the delays in fulfilling this title. We are keenly aware of the excitement and importance surrounding this release, and how much it means to Beatles fans and customers around the world. We truly look forward to fulfilling your order and getting this one-of-a-kind documentary into your hands. We also want to sincerely apologize that there has been yet another delay in the production and fulfillment of this media. Due to these supply chain issues, the release date for this item has again been delayed to the summer of 2022. We wholeheartedly apologize for the continued delay, and any inconvenience this may cause. We love "The Beatles: Get Back," and we look forward to sharing a new release date soon. Please respond to this email with any questions or concerns, or if you would like to cancel your order due to this delay. We again apologize for this inconvenience, and thank you for your patience and understanding. Regards, The Beatles Official Store You know what would really show the "sincerity" of their apology? They could apologize by giving all preorders a FREE copy of the blu-ray, just for them getting jacked around so much. I suspect one should not hold one's breath for too long waiting for that to happen.

I for one would encourage all Beatards to hold their breath until they receive their free Blurays.
