Thread is dedicated to Uncle Jack.

Jack White, recalling an amusing exchange that is totally real and not fabricated, in the Do You Have Any friends thread.:
Not directly on point, but this thread reminded me of a conversation I had with a couple of young boys in Grade 1 or 2 (around age 6 or 7) a while ago.
The two boys asked me what app I use for music on my phone. I replied I didn't own a cell phone so I didn't use an app. They both just stared at me in disbelief, eyes and mouths wide open, and after a very pregnant pause asked me the same exact question again - assuming I suppose that I had not heard their question correctly the first time because my answer, to them, was absolutely, completely nonsensical. I replied, again, that I didn't own a cell phone, so I didn't use an app. They again stared at me in disbelief, then to each other and then back to me. By the looks on their faces, I presumed they thought I might be joking, but they weren't quite certain. Maybe I was just crazy. One of them then asked me what app I used on my ipad to listen to music. I replied I didn't own an ipad. "You don't own an ipad?" "No, I don't own an ipad; I don't like ipads." "You don't own a cell phone and you don't own an ipad?", I was asked in a completely doubtful and accusatory tone. "That's right." "Do you own a computer?", I was asked in the same tone. "Yes, I own a computer." "But not a cell phone or an ipad?" "That's right, not a cell phone or an ipad." "How do text to your friends, if you don't own a cell phone?" "I don't text." "You don't text?", one of them more incredulously demanded than asked of me. "That's right, I don't text." "Do you have any friends?" "Yes, I have friends." "Then how do you talk to your friends, if you don't text?" "I just talk to them." "You just talk to them?!" "Yes, I just talk to them, I don't text them." "How can you talk to them without texting?" "I just talk to them the same way I'm talking to you now." "No texting?" "That's right, no texting." With sly smiles on both their faces, one boy turns to the other and says, "He's doesn't have any friends." "I know", the other assuredly replied, "no friends".
