TO ME that iTunes release was disrespectful! Such a historic event deserves a better presentation than such an unheralded release. The Beatles Washington coliseum concert should be an official super deluxe blu-ray release! TO ME it should come with a book, poster, mock ticket, plus interviews with McCartney and Ringo. Apple could really make the release something very special! I have a bootleg CD of that. It sounds like crap with all the screaming

I have a bootleg CD of that. It sounds like crap with all the screaming I paid a buck fifty for it at iTunes. It’s a good document of the group before they stopped giving a shit about playing live. The “screaming, but still-seated” fans are a hoot – as are their fashions. I’m glad I bought it, but maccafan is out to lunch. (Not that that’s a surprise to anyone.)

I'm happy to have it also, but I wouldn't spend a dime on a deluxe version of it. What would it have, a bonus disc of screaming?

Another thing that would be fun if Apple goes with a First US Visit/Washington 1964 focused campaign for the 60th early next year, would be to reissue MEET THE BEATLES as a stand-alone on vinyl. Or Meet the Beatles + Beatles Live at the Washington Colosseum in a gatefold could be a 2LP (and 2CD) set and timed as a companion to the First US Visit blu-ray. Lots of possibilities. Yes, that's what I would like, too. Rubber Soul box set this fall, and then a multitude of things celebrating the 60th of Beatlemania in Spring/Summer 2024! After that they can get back to the album sets, if they plan to continue with the earlier albums...but I am not telling myself it's a guarantee that pre-Rubber Soul albums will get SDEs. To me, commemorating Meet the Beatles/Ed Sullivan/US Visit/Washington Live is all more exciting than the earlier albums being expanded, and should be the main focus in 2024—especially with it being an anniversary and with Paul's photo book and photo exhibition coming soon, too. Maybe the full Ed Sullivan appearance and Washington show could be edited into a re-cut First U.S. Visit. Turn it into a three-part streaming series then release it on blu-ray.

This is literally the sort of shitty shit that grey market labels put out that clog up Amazon pages when looking for Beatles releases.

I genuinely don't know to what extent the Washington Colosseum show is out there (does the full thing circulate? Is that what the itunes video is?) but I assume it's more or less easily accessible right now. And Meet The Beatles is out there. I don't get wishing and hoping and praying for the chance to buy something you already have in a slightly different package.

The only live Beatles I want to hear is the Swedish radio show. The rest is garbage.

I do actually enjoy it though. It's a fun novelty. And I love Things We Said Today from the Hollywood Bowl without any reservations or qualifications. It's hot shit.

I think a reissue of Meet the Beatles, 2LP or 2CD, with the Washington concert as the second disc would be perfect for Feb 2024. Beatles First US visit could arrive on streaming that same month. Expanded hopefully. And that would be 4-5 months after a big Rubber Soul box, so enough time between for a "smaller" reissue release like that.

100% agree. And on streaming you can have more full performances and longer interview clips. It's a totally different medium now compared to broadcast TV and VHS that the original Anthology was edited for...I say keep the series at 8 episodes, just expand each of those by 10 minutes or so. Then add a bonus mini-episode that is like a "making of" basically and goes deep into how the series came about, how they got John's demos, footage of the Threetles recording together with Jeff, all Linda's mid-90s portraits of the Threetles...then outtakes and additional footage of when all three are together for interviews, and more from when they all jammed together, and then that flows into three music videos: Free as a Bird, Real Love and then finally Now and Then to end it.

And then have some bonus mini-mini-episode that's a making of the bonus episode.

They could reinsert all of the material George Harrison insisted be removed. The only problem with that is that it all features Paul McCartney.

Isn’t a documentary a “making of”? This guy is a primo Beatard.
