Bad news guys. According to the SHiTEs, every piece of recorded music you've ever thought about or owned has been lost in The Universal Fire. It can be blamed for everything
Frank Zappa:
Nirvana
Parliament
Joni Mitchell
Meatloaf
Bing Crosby
Supertramp
XTC
Velvet Underground
Gayle McCormick
Soft Machine
Cream
Herb Alpert
Elton John
The Carpenters
MoFi in general
Verve Records
Steely Dan
The Go-Gos
Eagles
The Stone Roses
Dean Martin
Joe Walsh
Squeeze
Sparks
Frank Zappa:
The entire legacy might have gone up in smoke in the Universal warehouse fire.
Nirvana
Sorry but...weren't the tapes destroyed in the Universal fire?
Parliament
The Universal Fire?
Joni Mitchell
Where some of the masters lost in the Universal fire of 2008?
Meatloaf
Was the master tape to bat out of hell lost in the universal fire?
Bing Crosby
Universal warehouse fire?
Supertramp
On 25 June 2019 the New York Times Magazine listed Supertramp among hundreds of artists whose material was destroyed in the 2008 Universal fire.
XTC
Wouldn't surprise me if the missing multitrack tapes for English Settlement, Mummer and Big Express were lost in the Universal fire in 2008.
Velvet Underground
Did the VU masters escape the Universal fire? Otherwise, what's out there is probably as good as it gets.
Gayle McCormick
I wish Gayle McCormick's "Flesh and Blood" would come out on CD; I suspect the master tape burned up in the Universal fire...
Soft Machine
Original mastertapes for both Probe's albums are fried in Universal's fire. Consider earlier CDs.
Cream
One hopes that the Wheels of Fire session tapes didn't become Reels of Fire in the Universal vault in 2008. Tapes of that age often need to be baked but generally at fairly low temperatures.
Herb Alpert
No mention about the fact that the entire tape library of the label went up in smoke in the Universal fire and that they entire master type recorded legacy of the label is gone. Guess that wasn't important enough to mention.
Elton John
Interesting. Where did you hear that the
Tapes lost in the fire were only copy tapes? For all albums? Thanks.
Tapes lost in the fire were only copy tapes? For all albums? Thanks.
The Carpenters
Richard Carpenter has mentioned several times all he has to work with now are digital masters as the original analog tapes burned in the 2008 Universal vault fire.
MoFi in general
Does Mofi store their digital backups in-house, or was some of that stuff caught up in the Universal fire?
Verve Records
We don't know what was lost in the Universal lot fire. I wonder whether we keep seeing the same titles because those are the ones that were saved, in part by being the titles that are always checked out for remastering.
Steely Dan
I thought the Steely Dan's catalog, the original analog tapes from backwards from Aja were caught in the Universal fire? Maybe I'm wrong or had they determine that in the investigation?
The Go-Gos
As for the Go-Gos, I believe the reason we may not ever get good remasters is because the tapes may have perished in the Universal lot fire.
Eagles

The Stone Roses
I was under the impression that tapes were lost in the Universal backlot fire (would love to be wrong on that count)
Dean Martin
The only thing about this that makes me sick is all the masters lost in that careless Universal fire.
Joe Walsh
Nice to see that he is working on this--gives me hope that his ABC-Dunhill era tapes survived the Universal fire in some form.
Squeeze
Sadly they didn’t get to this album for the reissues and I have also read that stuff for this album was lost in the Universal fire.
Sparks
Do you suppose those tapes burned up in the Universal fire also?
