Yeah I saw that stuff about Goldberg. Regardless of Goldberg's agenda, Albini said what he said. I doubt everyone disgusted by it on Twitter has an anti-trans agenda.
I have to say some of the other stuff they are piling on Albini about is kind of silly. Like his comments about the rap group Odd Future and their bad behavior when he shared a vehicle with them. Albini wasn't calling them certain names, he was just repeating what they were saying.

I haven't heard that name in years, so probably would've thought he died 30 years ago. Unfortunately, being on the ass end of the Bible Belt I know who he is. |

A lot of this cancelling stuff seems to be coming from faux outraged idiots with mob mentality regardless of poltical leaning. Self-described 'liberals' can be as bad if not worse. It is like there are whole swathes of society with absolutely no sense of historical context or critical thinking, but have somehow got themselves into a position of influence, or at least some social media soapbox. All the 'creatives' who signed the letter denouncing Jonathan Glazer for his remarks at the Oscars about Gaza - I bet most of them identify as 'liberals'. it's a shame the phrase 'virtue signalling' has been ascribed to the right, because it really does sum up a hell of a lot of behaviour in the current age, including in working hours. |
