That's only true until he got his green card (circa mid 1977) after which he was totally free to travel outside the US with no fear of being denied re-entry - and he did (quite often in fact) but, of course never to the UK. Why? Yoko is my guess, as his travel plans seemed to have been tightly controlled by her/her mystics/tarot card readers, who always advised him to travel almost anywhere in the world BUT the UK (due to supposed safety issues/bad luck risks/whatever other voodoo nonsense). However Japan was certainly never considered off-limits to John as a travel destination by Yoko or her (presumably) highly paid fortune telling employees of course - weird, huh? Many friends and relatives of John said after he died that during the final (post-green card) years of his life he always promised them he'd visit the UK "soon", and that he was excited/looking forward to it. Why did Yoko consistently block it happening? Well my theory is that she was afraid that he might make a return visit, enjoy being back a little too much and decide to stay. She HATED the UK (to be fair she had a valid reason to, given the UK press coverage of her before they moved to New York) and its hard to keep a marriage together with the spouses each insisting on living on a separate continent. Anyway - what it boils down to is its NOT true that John was unable to leave the US without risking his right to return, until his death. In fact he had NO such legal limitations for the final (roughly) two and a half years of his life. I always wondered if Yoko had high level contacts in Japan and used them to help Paul when he got busted there. Or had high level contacts and chose not to help Paul

It's true, oNO made sure The Beatles never got back while John was alive. Now she wants to get the band back, giving them John's demos. She's such a phony.

Sometimes I forget that the Beatles (even though I'm a fan) haven't been a going concern for 53 years, and they're still hot on this trail. I wonder how many of these clowns still wish MDC had gotten Yoko instead of John still 🙄

“With Yoko on the mic, screaming nonsensical Native American rain chants in the key of tortured feline”
No Nintari, that’s the sound you hear when your wife is getting boned in the other room when you are boasting of being an old school Nirvana fan.

If it's Now & Then, John being the sole songwriter, will this mean another ton of money for Yoko ? (sorry am I being horrible ?) No just regretibly accurate.

Remember, Yoko made sure that John never got back with the Beatles while he was alive. Now 14 years later she wants Paul, George and Ringo to get together to record John's demo, she's a phony. The label as an evil dragon lady still stands with me.

Thats Yoko being Yoko. Why are people surprised, she's done this through out the 70s. Again, she made sure the Beatles never got together while John was alive!!

Can your turntable kill you if you sit next to it for 30 minutes? Depends what you're listening to. Might take less than 30. True that, imagine listening to Yoko for 30 minutes, that would do it. She was worse than that: But judge for yourself. Your obsession with Yoko is… unhealthy. For someone who doesn’t like her you sure try to shoe-horn her in to as many threads as you can. You have 157 posts about her (and counting). Wow. You don’t have to read them, the ignore button can be your friend. Unhealthy?, for whom??. What a bizarre, ridiculous statement.

I wonder how many of these clowns still wish MDC had gotten Yoko instead of John still 🙄 Last month they all but came right out and said exactly that. Really sick. I counted coup on the witchburner, made him eat his words. Small but satisfying win. Not easy to do in Beatleschwitz. Burns me up when those dickheads persecute her. Thread: Yoko Ono is 90 years old WildHorseshit, dangling bait: Wow, she's lived 50 years longer than John did. Daring, hitting the hook: "Imagine" if it had been the other way around. :crying: (liked by WildHorsesass) Speedracer: What a ghastly thing to say. Daring: Correct, I'll withdraw.

Yoko Ono is NOT a rock star. She was MARRIED to a rock star, and managed to parlay that into some sort of a "career" in music. Music was not her original claim to fame. When you think of Yoko, what do you think of first? She was married to a member of the most important band in the history of Pop music and may have played a significant role in breaking up that band. Then maybe you think about how she screwed Julian Lennon. Her musical(?) shrieking is MAYBE third on the list. John Travolta made a few records in the '70's, even had a hit, Don Johnson in the eighties. Kevin Costner, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon all play music on the side. Rock stars? No, they're actors who play music on the side. "Rock Star" is often used as a sort of Pop Culture catch all to describe someone of Fame or a level of celebrity with a particular flamboyance or an air of rebellion. You could say someone like James Dean or more recently Johnny Depp (who actually plays music) could be considered rock stars. Or in the world of sport, people like Joe Namath and Dennis Rodman back in the day, or maybe a David Beckham or an Aaron Rodgers now. Heck, they used to compare Bill Nye The Science Guy to a rock star at the peak of his fame. By either definition, her work on Double Fantasy (which I rather enjoy) notwithstanding, I would say Yoko is not a rock star. She just happened to marry one of THE BIGGEST ROCK STARS o all time. That alone does not make you a rock star. And no matter how many albums she records, or how loud her fanboys scream, she will NEVER be a rock star.
