Marrying John Lennon and then immediately having him assassinated 12 years later is the most rock star thing I could think of.

Dlokazip at least has an intelligent response/ dunk
“If Yoko Ono is not a rock star, then neither are the following:
Captain Beefheart John Zorn Lene Lovich
Either all of them are or none of them are.
Yoko made rock music, particularly on Plastic Ono Band and Fly. Yoko was and is a star, both in the avant-garde art world and in celebrity culture.
Apparently, the "rock star" part is up for debate.”

If it’s run by the National Trust why would Yoko have any say?
I’m sure the “guide” is just another angry Beatard.

Is that the same National Trust where you can donate a soap impression of your wife that you ate?

The final part of the verse was perhaps the most abstract, but came from earthy origins.
I don’t know where the ‘soap impression of his wife’ came from but the eating of something and then donating it to the National Trust came from a conversation we’d had about the horrors of walking in public spaces on Merseyside, where you were always coming across the evidence of people having crapped behind bushes and in old air raid shelters. So to donate what you’ve eaten to the National Trust was what would now be known as ‘defecation on common land owned by the National Trust.’ -- Derek Taylor

Yoko prolly saw Janov stealing him away from her. I've never liked her. Even her use of May Pang to keep John within her orbit reeks of control. So okay, he didn't want the suburban British housewife, but he rebounded way left of center. May Pang almost had John seeing his way to at least work with the others again. The minute that hit her eardrums she re-entered his life and the rest was history or herstory.

I just listened to the 'Things We Said Today' podcast with Peter Jackson - I highly recommend it! Finally we have some information about John's intention's for the song 'Now and Then' - it was originally a series of lyrics written on Apple paper in the 'lost weekend' period, and was a set of words about wanting Yoko to take him back. I call BS. This sounds like something Elliot Mintz came up with, and there's nothing to support it. Nothing to support it ? You feel Peter Jackson made it up ? I feel he probably repeated what he was told and believed it in good faith. But personally, I don't.

It was a response to MACCA's original lyrics to Venus and Mars: "Yoko and John are alright, tonight, yeah yeah yeah"

While it's only hinted at in the film, when John left May to go see Yoko and didn't return, it's because Yoko had arranged to have him put under hypnosis to "stop smoking". This was just before he and May were planning to buy a house and to go to New Orleans to see Paul & Linda who were recording "Venus and Mars". If you don't think she was capable of going to that extreme to manipulate him (hypnosis), then watch the film and see how she handled matters when Julian (as a young boy) would call the Dakota and ask to talk to his dad. May Pang's story has been consistent through the years, and the movie contains interview clips with people closest to John (including Paul), most of which seem to have vanished from (or never made it to) the Internet. This film should be seen by every Beatles/Lennon fan, whether you've read May's books or not.

The body language here is so telling. Yoko is standing upright, muff facing the world. John is crouched over, hiding his cock in shame.

Weakest Link: John Lennon & Yoko Ono - "Milk and Honey" Round 1I for one don't dislike Yoko at all. If her songs were better than John's, they wouldn't be voted off....simple as that. I think that's unrealistic given both the incredibly high regard with which so many on the SHF hold John and how much so effin' many hate Yoko. I think Yoko did have some "DF" songs that topped John's... but they still got the boot before any of the 7 John songs. It's not a fair fight, and that's why I strongly considered dropping the Yoko songs from this WL series. Their fate was preordained. But this isn't a case where one can clearly state that JL's songs are objectively superior to YO's and that's why hers will go first - or went first in the case of "DF" years back. Well, THIS guy can say John's are objectively superior, because his aren't marred by her attempts at vocalizing. So there's that. "Objectively superior" doesn't apply to art. You added the modifier "clearly." And yeah, I can clearly say that John's work is objectively superior. There may be some that disagree, but that doesn't make them right. JcS

I was greeted with the uncensored Two Virgins album cover, a glimpse of the Beatles I neither wanted nor needed. I could have happily gone the rest of my life without needing to have seen Lennon's John. Just what I wanted to see--another naked photo of the 4th-best Beatle and his 4/10 wife. I think i've had enough of this thread for today. And I think we've all had enough of posts bashing Yoko... One could argue that it wasn't bashing... calling Yoko a "4" is actually quite generous.
