I remember seeing Old Wave at my usual record store when it first came out (IIRC, the Canadian import is what they had).
Since the time of the LP’s release, I had always assumed it was Ringo’s version of Lennon’s Rock ‘n’ Roll album – a collection of mouldy oldies. (The LP’s name, cover photo, and an innaccurate comment made by the clerk at that aforementioned record store is what lead me to that assumption.)
Wikipedia’s page on the album just clued me in to the LP’s actual content.
An album of rock ‘n’ roll standards might have been the way to go after all.

It's disturbing and disappointing how knowledgeable some of you fuckers are about Ringo's solo albums.

It's disturbing and disappointing how knowledgeable some of you fuckers are about Ringo's solo albums. I've come to terms with the fact that I'm basically Rain Man but with useless Beatles knowledge. I'm definitely on the high-functioning end of the beatard spectrum.

Don't look at me. I have never heard a Ringo LP in its entirety, probably due to the fact that I am not a fucking idiot. I am a fucking idiot, but I heard enough Ringo singles to steer clear of his LPs.

Beaucoup of Booze and Ringos Rotorooter are stone cold classics. Wow. Ringo's Rotorooter. I can't believe that one is still kicking around. That was one of my first poats here. You got me in the feels, bradman. Square in the feels.

So gross. From the mind of Funky54 yesterday and closing in on 70 likes from other weirdos. The obvious highlight is talking about shitting out the burger.
“Entertain myself:
Go to local Tavern and spend $18 on a gastro pub burger and $6 bucks a beer. With tip leave spending $35-$40. Take the wife, it just doubled.
That was one time for an hour, I’ll take a crap and never think about or enjoy the burger again. It’s gone, nothing to show for it. Can’t sell it used.
Spend $35- $40 on a record.. I’ll enjoy it a hundred times. I can sell it for 2/3ds of what I paid for it at any time.
I actually think a $30 to $35 record is a value. The pleasure I get when it comes in the mail or when my record shop sells it to me.. the excitement of opening it, cleaning it, cueing it and listening. Looking over the packaging, liner notes, pics.
When I’m done with it, it gets a brand new high quality inner sleeve. The jacket get put into a new plastic protector. I file it in its place. To me… worth ever penny. It’s comforting to know it’s there and ready to share and enjoy.. I’m convinced there is nothing I could do with $35 that would bring me as much pleasure as that record and the music magically hidden in its grooves.“

Not related to anything in particular but I just came across this record on Amazon and it made me laugh and think of those SHite bands like The Beagles and what their best attempt at cover art would come out looking like, even the title is prime Shite cool. The 3 on the right look like they were leaving a movie theatre when someone approached them from behind and said “excuse me madam” and these are the reaction shots as they turned around.

Props to the dude on the left for not wearing a wig, which is more than the drummer for the Beagles can claim.

"Why take the wife out for a burger that she'll only shit out later when I can spend $40 on a Jim Croce reissue?"
